guys with experience.....

OK heres the problem....check the sig for most of the specs on the engine....

i know the motor makes plenty of power.....but the gears seem to be so far off its just holding the car back, it has 3.73's in it right now and has run a best of about 108mph on a 12.7sec et.

the car hits the traps wound out at 7000rpm in 3rd gear (tremec TKO 5 speed) now, the cam card actually warns that 4.10's should be used.....it makes good power from 4400-7000rpm.

with the 3.73's. im dropping out of the power band when i shift (around 3800rpm) and if i quick shift into 4th, my et will be slower but my trap speed goes up. Now i know that the 4.10 gears are gonna make a big difference because the setup is so far off the way that it is...my only concern is that it would be all done in 4th gear at about 140.....so when i get into some big n20 it seems that it would limit the car there. other than that, my only solution is to swap over to a solid roller cam that can turn more rpm and still make power...

any thoughts?

Tire size?
Compression ratio?
Fuel octane used?
Cam specs?
Vehicle weight with driver?

You should be crossing the finish line at or just before your red line in high gear 1:1. Adjust the gearing or tire size to achieve this.

The 750 carb looks way to small for the engine. An 850 would be better.

3600lbs with me in it
28" tire
106 octane fuel
cam: .640/.640 lift at the valve, 244deg duration at .050, 110 deg lobe seperatio, 106 intake centerline.

do you really think that carb is too small? an 850 sounds big

oh ya, the tranny gear ratios are as followes:

1st: 3.27
2nd: 1.98
3rd: 1.34
4th: 1.00
5th: .64

I ran a lot less cam than that in my old 383. 3200 pounds running high 11's with an 850 Speed Demon DP.

With that much cam and spinning the engine to 7000, a 750 is way to small.

With a gear ratio spread apart like that, you could probably use 4.10 gears and launch in second gear. 3.27 is too low for a first gear for the drag strip. The 28" tires could use the 4.10's better than 3.73.

thats what i was thinking....about launching in 2nd gear.....first gear is almost useless with the 3.73's, so i can imagine how ridiculous it would be with the 4.10's

now that i think about it, by doing that , theres gonna be a big difference with the elmination of a shift.

demons carbs are expensive lol....maybe i can sell my 750 race demon to my idiot brother.....or wait he wants to put an 850 on his slightly built 355(dumb ***) i'll just wait until he realizes that it sucks and swap him for it lol.

i just know that this motor is making way more power than its showing right now, i have to get this f(cker set up right
