I was wondering what i can do to get my car into the 14s before i put in headers and start with all that stuff, i have a 350 with all the stock lg4 exhaust manifolds and everything, right now im at 15.4@89 w/2.1 60', soon im changing the heads, converting to tpi with ported plenum and runners, and putting full exhaust etc. i wanna prove this guy at my school wrong he thinks i cant break 14s until i at least get headers, i know theres something i can do to knock off a few tenths without going into the engine...all it has right now is k&n, and flamethrower coil the rest is stock, and its a 5spd....

lg4 manifolds choke 305s. They strangle even the weakest of 350s even worse. changing the exhuast alone would most likely get you into the 14's, but if your dead set on doing it with that exhuast, try gettin some gears, and some traction. I might also suggest a cutout in front of your cat. Might be good for a couple tenths...

and IMHO, you should keep the carb setup, just switch it over to a vacuum advance qjet setup. It's way cheaper, and you'll be happier in the long run. The TPI is a good system, but in stock form it runs out of breath pretty quick, and porting the stock stuff can only get you so far before you have to drop a whole lot of money on a superam, miniram, stealth ram or lt1 setup.... Then again it all depends on what you wanna do with it. If your looking to hit 14's and be done, the TPI will work great it stock form...

i know that the the tpi runs out of breath when you get between maybe 13.5-14.0, the reason for the swap is because i got the whole setup for 75 bucks, and it is my daily driver so the fuel injection would make for better driveability and fuel economy. if i could get around high 13- 14 flat i would be happy, it would be a quick daily driver that would hold its own on the streets...if i was going for full ***** out power i would stay with the carb..

nitrous would get you there.

some better gears may help to reach your goal.

What knida 350 you got in that thing? I ran 14.6 with a 305 with out headers with your same 60'. You have got to have some major tuning problems. Try adjusting your carb or timing something is not right there.

its a 350 .060 over, the block is from a 68 something, 2 bolt main, rebuilt stock bottom end, stock heads, stock intake, stock q-jet, stock lg4 exhaust manifolds, everything, i just rebuilt the carb which is running a lil rich still, and in between every run i would play with the timing a lil bit and still saw no major improvement...you having any tips as to what i may of missed or how i should tune it? Like i said though im getting ready to put a bunch of money in it rebuilding the top end but i wanna see how far i can get on this current crappy setup...
