Our local track has a high banked oval track (not sure if it's 1/2 or 5/8 mile). A 1/4 mile dragstrip and a 2 or 2 1/2 mile road course. The road course uses the dragstrip as the straightaway. The full length down to the last turn for the road course is about 3/4 mile. They come onto the track around the 330' mark so it doesn't screw up the starting line and launch area. They complain more than we do. Theres a transition area when they come onto the track. When they hit the dragstrip, there's rubber and traction compound on the pavement and they need to adjust for the sudden traction coming out of a corner.
I've seen lots of road course cars on the track before a drag race. We have to wait until they're done. There are many types of classes you could run in. I've seen many GOOD road course cars coming off the track. 428 AC Cobras, Jags, Ferrari, Corvettes. I don't recall ever seeing a third gen but they may race on other days or are just not interested. The import racing is interesting. Old Honda civics and other 4 cylinder cars running around buzzing like a bunch of bees.
