Weighed My Camaro in today

3100 pounds without me in it. I am pretty happy with the weight. What do you guys think I will be running with a 350HO with 330 horsepower and 380 ft lbs torque. The motor seems to pull awefully hard. I am hoping for high 13's with a 3000 stall and 3.73's.

Why did you weigh it without you in it? The car won't go down the track by itself. Weight it with everything you need to go racing with; driver, helmet, fuel etc. Then you will have the true weight that the engine needs to push down the track. That will be your race weight. After that find ways to remove race weight.

Unless you get a lot of tire spin there's no reason why you can't get high 13's.

this was with a half tank of gas, my back seat, my rear seat belts and a ton of extra parts in the back. i would imagine race weight with me in it is 3300 pounds.

My car was right at 3180 with everything (including me) but a hood. I removed the backseat, added a glass lift-off cowl, took off the a/c, and pulled the subs out and i'm at 2950 (according to the grain elevator's digital scale).

I say mid 13s at best. Most likely high 13s, traction may be an issue.

The car was originally loaded, power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel, cruise control, the U69 stereo package (i think thats the code), air conditioning power windows power locks and so forth. i think the only thing it didnt have was power seats. here is what i have done to get to this weight (granted the 82-84's weigh less for some reason):
removed all smog equipment
i dont run a cross flow muffler (i imagine this saves quite a bit, just a dynomax bullet muffler)
removed all a/c equipment
removed a/c / heater suitcase from firewall (still have all heater stuff including core, might switch back to having heat later on)
removed cruise control
removed power steering and will be swapping in an s10 gearbox
i dont currently run a stereo, i have a gauge cluster where the radio went
aluminum radiator
removed jack/spare tire

things still to do:
remove back seat
get rid of all spare parts in back
fiberglass hood
lightweight wheels
aluminum water pump
mini starter

for some reason it is stuck in my head that once i get my car tuned it will run a 13.7 i dunno why. i have a feeling traction will be tough but we'll see.

check out my sig as we're pretty close, but you do have gears on me, so yeah you'll definately be low-mid 13's.

82-84 cars are lighter than 85+ cars, i have no idea as to why.

Might have to do with the 84's having lighter bumper. Not sure about that one though so someone can double check this. My 84 weighted in at 3180-3200lbs with a lot of stuff removed: jack and spare, T-5 tranny-a lot less weight then auto, no air, power nothing except rear hatch, no smog, front sway bar removed at the time, carpet and padding in rear cargo area removed. That's with a 400 block and iron heads(don't know it 400 weighs more then a 350, but probably not). Since then i got a fiberglass hood and stewart stage 2 alum. pump.
Ontogenesis: your weight seems hard to believe, the scale must have been off. your car is at 2950 just from removing a/c and a glass hood? maybe if you got a v-6.

FWIW, way back when, my girlfriend's dead stock 87 base model Camaro with 2.8V6, automatic, a/c, and steel wheels weight 3050 with half a tank and the jack and spare and all the little junk still in the car. This was without driver. That was a small, light engine, but it's not hard to believe that stripped V8 with fiberglass hood, manual tranny, aluminum rims, and no a/c could come in under 3000lbs without driver.

My 91 vert weighs 3,475 without me and 3,655 with me. Is that light for a vert?

If the car comes out at 3300lbs with you in it and it actually has 330hp, it should run about 109mph, or a low 13 second run (or better).

I am told once everything is in tune and i have a 3000 stall, 3.73's and posi i could be looking at 13.3's or so. it all depends on traction which i am gonna work on. my friend runs 14.0 with 250 horsepower and more weight on radials, so i would imagine that 80 more horsepower and ft lbs torque will get me some good times if i can launch for crap.
