1/4 Estimate

I was wondering if anyone thinks I can hit 12s with my forth coming setup.

GM Goodwrench 350, about 9.3:1 compression, Pro Lightning 64cc 200cc heads (2.08/1.6) aluminum heads, Comp 268XE cam with 1.6 Comp RR's making the lift 508/5122, Hedman coated long tubes into dual exhaust with an H pipe, 3:73 gears, aluminum radiator, no AC, no smog, possibly the battery in trunk.
Using a 700R4 and a 2800-3000 stall.

If I can get 50cc heads of the same brand, then i will, giving me 10.3:1 compression...

How about suspension mods? are you going to run DR's? I'd say the hardest part in your case is putting the power to the ground...

Well, the suspension is stock. But I will be adding some SFCs, anything else I should do?

I was think DR's, but not right now. I believe the backs are 235/55/16s.

Mark, SFC's won't be enough, I can't put the power to the ground now, let alone after the Lightning's go on.

This could be entertaining.... I'll see if I can post this.

I can't post a DD2000 page here, otherwise, if someone can tell me how.

Building an engine that produces 500 hp won't run 12's if you can't get the power to the ground. Suspension work and drag slicks will be needed.

Exactly. I have too much wheelhop as it is. To date, I've ripped the torque arm out of the tranny twice. Suspension mods are definatley needed for launch.

But leaving an LS1 in your dust on the highway is oh so sweet!

desktop dragstrip.

I'll be fine for a little while. I'll have a 3k or so stall soon.

you need some good duration for these heads to work well. your running a carb, why don't you get a comp xe286 or something up there in duration to give you some awesome numbers.

Hey Mark, nice setup. I just wanted to tell you (if you havent run the motor yet), I had a set of the Pro Action Lightnings 220cc heads on my race car and they perform WELL. Good luck with droping to the 12's!

Sorry Mark, i just realized you've already got the xe268. I just purchased my 1.6RR and the heads will be after X-mas.
I'm also hoping to hit the 12's. Do you think I should go with the 64cc or the 72cc? I have 10.7:1 comp. 383 now. With a Lunati 292/292 .480/.480 cam. With the RR it should be .512 lift on both sides. If I get the 64cc's I'll stay at 10.7:1. But I've been really thinking about getting a blower as my next mod. My question is will a larger head gasket and the 72cc's be enough to drop me down to a realistic comp. ratio for a mild powercharger? What do you guys think?

Oh, and I want 12's too.
Suspension: SFC's, soon to be custom adjustable LCA's, and adjustanble panhard rod.
