BAD ***, my friend, BAD ***. Now that you have the car tuned, we need to work on your R/T's
On a serious note, what's the car feel like when she comes down, is it BAM hard or a smooth goin with the flow situation. I ask cause richy rich uncles building a S-10 that I'm gonna shake down next season for him and help get the suspension tuned and it's gonna be a definate wheel stander-unless he gets the bars like we're all tellin him. I just want to know, when I let go of the button and it goes up-considering it's going straight-do ya keep it pegged and ride it out for a soft landing or does it crash down.
Love the pics, but with R/T's like that I'll bracket race ya anytime anywhere, I'll just be the tortise picking up the paycheck

I really find it wierd how some tracks only run to 1000 feet. They can't put another set of timing lights out to 1320?

That should be somewhere around a 9.6 1/4 mile.

You might want to put some front end limiters on the car and some wheelie bars. As nice as those wheelies are, you're losing ET while doing it. 6" is about all you want those front tires off the ground. Energy moving the car should be going forward, not up.

Hell if he's got a full interior he could join 1 of those clubs that gets paid to do exhibition runs. I still love watching the front ends go up like that-gotta be hard on parts, but neat as hell to watch.
May be someday, I'd be happy to pull 1 tire 1" off the ground.

We have 2 local racers. They both have Dodge cars. One Dart and one Duster. They both have similar setups and both hike the wheels off the ground every time they launch. They come down so soft it looks normal.

I got to watch a video of my car launching in Yakima. The 1.50x 60' time still didn't pull the wheels off the ground but the amount of seperation between the front tire and the fender is at the maximum. I think I pulled the wheels off once just because of how the steering reacted a split second later. Just after I launched there was a shudder in the steering wheel. I'm thinking it's when the wheels made contact with the pavement again. I've only felt it once. It was also when I did a 5000 rpm transbrake launch.

Hey guys, thanks. The smaller wheelies were with 150 shot of n20 on the leave (footbrake not transbrake) and it lands fairly smooth. Then I put 200 on it and couldnt get it down the track (because it hit the rear bumper everytime) until i tightend up the front suspention.
This was very hard on parts, the last pass i made this season broke the tranny in 3 peices and blew my driveshaft in half. Turns out I broke the tranny case on a hard landing. Oh well.
We have a 1/8 mile track about 10 miles from my house and 1000' track about 2 1/2 hours away. 1/4 mile about 1 away. Most of the short tracks are because of limited property.
OH yeah, my best 1/8 mile time was 6.14 @ 111 wich would be about 9.30 or so.

At least u have exposure to a few different tracks realativly close, my home track 1/4mi is only 20min away, earlville 1/4mi about 1 hr away, then after that 2-3 hrs. I can just about imagine all the "friends" that come over to ya in the pits, cars that launch like that are my favorite-sure I like the fast ones-never been to true NHRA event so I have limited exposrure, but I like being on the starting line as opposed to the big end-more excitement and carnage.
Stephen, how's the now engine coming. got the block back yet?

I took the heads in to be fixed on Thursday. I won't have the new pistons and con rods until next week. It's the parts waiting game right now. Once I have those parts, then the block can go in to be bored out and the bottom end can be balanced.

I'm hoping to start assembly before the end of November. I still have so much more to do but the engine needs to be in the car first.

I'm also close to the local track. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to work to pick up the car then a 10 minute drive to the track. My other tracks, both 1/4 mile, are about a 3 hour drive.

I hate the waiting game! I ordered all my stuff from jegs and the biggest bracket master hydraulic cam they had to complete my new short block and get me rollin so I would'nt miss a race. Jegs said the cam would be "great" with my combo back then. Got ahold of Lunati and they said to step down to the cam I have now. Took about a month to finally get my "new cam" after Jegs threw out my return card-talk about pissed, can't really do anything till the cams in. They ended up refunding all my incurred shipping costs for the whole project and 10% off so it made it a little better, but I was still frustrated as hell. The way I was going this season, 1 month of missed racing could have been a little more $$$ in my pocket.
Don't have too much fun.
