Im looking to get a 92 Trans Am and I was just wondering what you guys think it would run, they are supossed to have 240hp. After I get her I want to swap the auto tranny out for a t56 out of a 94-97 f body.

If you put a 6 speed in that car you should be able to cut some low 14's easily if you can drive that thing halfway decent.

i believe the 92 350 had 245horses. The 700R4 kills 20% of your flywheel hp and the T56 supposedly only takes about 12-15% away, so your looking at about a 20 hp gain at the wheels by swapping the manual. If you can drive pretty good I'd expect low 14s.(if you swap in some good gears while your at it) With a 6 spd I'd recommend 3.73 or 4.11

I just ran my camaro at the track yesterday. It's pretty much all stock I ran a best time of 14.416 I believe. Plus it snowed that morning and it was cold all day at the track.
Pretty good for my first time out.

When I had the 3:73s, I didnt like it. It revved too fast. For auto guys , they may like it. But for the manual guys, I say stay around 3:42ish. Of course, 3:42 rears are hard to come by. So I settled for a 3:23, which I don't regret at all. Like I said before, the car stays in 3rd through the traps (just barely)

i think that i might have to differ with the "your first time out"idea. the first time in my life that i ever ran my car was the best pass to date. which by the way was a 14.12 with the mods listed in the sig.

Once you get to know it, probably mid 14s.
3:73s are too much for TPI. Trust me, been down that road. They actually made my time worst.

6-speed = 6 chances to screw up??
And there are only 5 shifts in a 6 speed assuming you start in 1st gear
