What safety mods need to be done when you run a 11.99 or better at the 1/4 mile?

I recently ran a 11.97 @113 at Englishtown Raceway Park in Old Bridge, NJ. Track officials told me to run a 12.0 or slower my second time out so I had to hit the brakes towards the end of the track. I ran a 12.0 @106 by the skin of my teeth. Now I know the car is solidly in the 11 second range. What safety mods/equipment do I need for this time range? Thanks in advance.

What about wheel studs, a fire jacket, and a 5 pt. seat belt harness?? Do I need those as well? I do run 11.5" slicks. Also, will I need a 4 pt. or 6 pt. cage?

- 10.00(*6.40) to 11.99 (*7.49) (unblown): All drivers, jacket meeting SFI spec 3.2A/1 mandatory.

as for the seat belt It does not say But I would get a 5pt anyways since it is the safest.

Heres were I am getting most of my Information.http://208.2.76.252/NHRA%20rules.htm

Also if nothing else get a hold of YOUR track & Find out what they require (which is 90% of the time NHRA rules)

A little more simplified for running into the 11's. All the other stuff like helmet, driveshaft loop etc should already be installed if you were in the 12's.

5 point roll bar. This is a typical 4 point bar with the added drivers door bar. Most people will install the passenger side bar also making it a 6 point bar but the rules state that 5 point is minimum. The 6 point bar is good to 10.0 unless the floor or firewall have been modified. Then the 6 point bar is only good to 11.0 and a full cage is required.

5 point harness. Read the rulebook for proper installation points. A stock seatbelt is not allowed below 12.0

Single layer fire jacket.

A manual transmission must have an SFI rated flywheel shield. Cast iron flywheel and stock clutches are not allowed below 12.0 either.

Screw in metal valve stems on all tubless tires.

10.99 and quicker require aftermarket axles with positive retention device. This means you need a Ford 9", C-clip eliminators or rear disk brakes to hold the aftermarket axles in if the c-clip breaks. It's best to get something like this even in the 11's

SFI harmonic balancer is required. Although not manditory until 10.99, an SFI flexplate should be used also if using an automatic transmission.

That's about it for required stuff that's needed for 10.0 to 11.99.
