Low 14s is where you should be. Depends on your altitude and very heavily upon the weather.

my 91 L98 currently runs the same times as you, see my sig for best time thus far.

in the upcoming 2-3 months, i am going to be putting on AS&M semi-siamese runners, accel superram intake manifold, and SLP 1 5/8 headers. I'm expecting 14.0x's (hopefully!).

To run mid 13's I think you are probably looking at a set of heads, or a cam swap.

My friend ran a 14.6@96 I think with no air filters, chip, and air foil in his 90 L98 IROC. He has yet to run it with ported stock heads and SLP cam. I raced him on street and was pushing him down the road. He still has stock exhaust though...killing it bad.

Can you guys post your 1/8 times and mph on these runs. I wanna get a picture of where I am. I know I could just *1.57 or whatever it is, but I want an actual comparison.

Stall converter and cooler, drag radials, a few suspension pieces, bolt ons and exhaust and 60fts in the 1.77 range is my recipe for mid 13s without using gears, heads or a cam swap at sea level in good air...

how much do you think a transmission shop would charge me to put in a torque converter, a tranny cooler, a shift kit, and a corvette servo? my 700r4 runs real nice, but i want to it last longer..

ThirdGenZ28 92 is right on the money. My car has a lot of the same mods. I still have the factory converter, manifolds and 160K miles. Traction and iced plenum make a huge difference. The 1/8 on my 13.996 1/4 pass was a 8.9XX. I just added a new fuel pump and cat-back so hopefully I'll be able to get out to the track and take advantage of the cooler weather.

I'll second that traction issue!!!

My 85 IROC ( '87 L98 long block ) ran a best of 14.6 @ 94.5 mph the other night. This was the 1st time I've run this car. Wanted to get a baseline before I started my mods.

I hot lapped, so icing the plenum makes a HUGE difference. And in my case, since my 700 would not shift into Drive at WOT when manually shifting, I'm sure when I get the T5 in it will be worth AT LEAST a few tenths.

My best run was leaving it in Drive ( so it would shift ) and shift points sucked at like 4200 RPM or so. Previous owner had the tranny rebuilt, but it's probably just a stocker that was exchanged. Since my 350 has some mild port work on the heads, plenum, intake etc, it wants to pull farther than 4200 RPM.

With my 275/40/17 BFG KDWS 's in the rear, traction was a DREAM!!! My 14.6 run was only a 2.19 60 ft time, and I left at idle, and ended up having to let off when I hit 2nd, as it got squirrly on me.

I have some headers ready to go. I might even borrow some drag radials and wheels and see what it would run with traction..

Remember....... knocking a tenth off in the 60ft will gain you 2-3 tenths in the 1/4 mile ET.

With my headers, and being able to squeeze a 1.9 60 ft time, I'm fairly confident I can get the car down to a 14 flat........

I 3rd The Traction statement.

I have been lucky with my car since all I race on is street tires. Normally I hook pretty well unless some dumba$$ runs through the waterbox with out doing a burn out or they dont put enough good stuff on the track.

My Camaro ran 14.24 @97 with 3.73 gears, cheap headers, and pulleys. (which did not help my car one bit, except kill my battery every few months) On 100 shot of nitrous, I ran a 12.89 @104, on sticky tires. went 12.64 on 150 shot with the tranny starting to slip. The MPH was only 104. Let me know other times out there to see where i stand.
