Want some E.T's of 383's...
I'm in the process of breaking in my new 383. I was wondering if anybody has some E.T. times of their 383, or has a guess on what mine should run.
383 stroker
11.0-11.47:1 compression
292 Adv. duration cam
ported 300 horse 041 heads 1.94, 1.60 valves
Torker II and Holley750 VacSec
Headers and 3" pipe to American Thunder Flowmaster
3.45 rear
T5 5 speed
I'll have to baby it off the line because of the 5 speed.
I'm sure if I shock load that 5 speed then that'll be the end of it.

When I had one I was running 11.8-12.0
Displacement means nothing when you want an ET. Depending on how the engine is built and how the rest of the car is set up a 383 could run anywhere from 10.0 to 15.0
If you want to know what it will run then take it to the track and find out.

Yeah, easy enough to say that till I let her go out of the holeshot and my tranny is spread across the 60'. I want some sort of guesstimation before i go.

OK. "If" your tranny holds up and if you can get the power to the ground you might run 12's. The small valves in the head are restrictive for that cam and compression ratio. The VS carb may not be enough to show the true potential of the engine. A DP would be a better choice.
Again like I said. The only way you'll know for sure is to go out and make a pass. Don't expect miracles since any number of things could be wrong with your setup.
