NHRA Summit Racing Series
Our local track holds the NHRA ET street drags for points on some Saturdays. Do I need to be an NHRA member? (I am anyway.) Anyone have info on how I can get in on this?
Too bad it's already 4 events into the season.

Usually not. You only need a membership to race at national and divisional points series.
Your track will have their own numbering system for casual racers. When you show up, they'll do a tech inspection on the car then give you a number to use. It could be something like T123. That will be your number for the whole year. If you get an NHRA membership you can have a divisional number. I believe AZ is in division seven so you would have a number that starts with a 7, ie 7000 or G765. Something like that.
Since most bracket racers don't need an NHRA membership, they usually just use a local track number however you and your car must pass a tech instection before being allowed to race. Most street cars have no problems passing tech. It's when you start going faster or changing a lot of factory components that the inspections get more thorough.
If the points series is just the local tracks points series then you don't need an NHRA membership. If it's an official NHRA Summit series then you'll probably need a membership. You'll have to call your track and find out.
