You start with tires then work on suspension. 500+HP will only run 12's if you can't get the power to the ground.

Oh, and get rid of all that extra weight from the car. It takes a lot of power to get a heavy vehicle moving.

I think he means "How do I launch an auto" or manual, not sure he doesn't say... But the easiest way (assuming auto) is to just put your left foot on the brake lightly, raise the RPMs to just before the tires start moving (usually what 1500-2000?) then when the last yellow light comes on roll into the throttle so you don't get loads of tirespin. I'm probably missing something but anyway that's what i got right now.

Since each car reacts differently you'll have to experiment to find out what works best.

Usually you'll be holding the brake with your left foot and giving it a bit of gas with the right to help load up the driveline. How much gas you give it depends on a lot of things but for a beginner, just off idle is good enough.

As mentioned above, when you see the last yellow light come on, lift off the brake quickly and hit the throttle. How much gas to give it right off the line again depends on each car. If you don't overpower the tires going to WOT then just mash it down and go. If you do overpower the tires then you'll have to adjust to only give part throttle for a split second until the car gets momentum then go to WOT.

Since each car is different it just takes practice to see what works best.

The reason you leave on the last yellow is because by the time you and the car react, the green light will be on. If you wait for the green to come on before going, you'll have a very slow reaction time. Reaction time won't have any effect on your ET but if you're in a race it's a sure way to lose.

Just remember to have fun. It gets addicting very fast.

thanks for clearing that up man...now i have an advantage over this kid with a chevelle who wants to race me..my car has a fresh 305 with a 700R4 ill have exhaust and probably somewhat funtional ram air because of the big block hood and a 3.23...hes got a 350 with a TH400 and exhaust, intake, and some other goodies, but i think hes only pullin like 350 HP at the most ill try to find out what else hes got but....if i can drive and he cant, do u think i can take him? and this is a straight up race at a track.
