A late '80s 5spd GT should be good for 14.6s , the LX maybe .2 faster would be my guess. The autos were a little slower.

Of course, that's when the Mustangs were at their top performance wise over GM. That is till the LT1 and LS1.

In fact some 350s 3rdgens were about even with the Mustangs.

Not sure about that, in your first post you put Nova SS 402 BB, what's a 402BB, do you mean 502BB?

Anywhere from 14.0's to mid 15's...5.0's are like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get til you bite into one. :lala:

its a 402 big block, from what i understand, GM made a mistake and over bored the block, but it came from a 1971 Chevy Impala

How true. Last time I was at the track I saw (and more importantly HEARD) a few fox bodies that I thought were going to be killer. I was shocked to see them run mid 14's. Then there were some mild sounding stangs out there ripping high 12's.

Theres only one way to find out...and its always fun, win or otherwise.

It depends on all variables, here are two examples.

1991 Mustang LX, 5-speed, Mac catback, K&N, pullies, 3.55 gears, Driveshaft, shocks, and 26x9 slicks.
13.67 @ 98

1990 Mustang LX, 5-speed, Ford Racing headers, Off road H-pipe, Flowmaster cat back, Cobra Intake, 65mm Tbody, 70mm Mass Air, 24 lb Injectors, CAI, K&N, GT-40 aluminum heads, 1.7 Roller Rockers, B-303 cam, pulleys, Clutch, Driveshaft, locker, 3.73 gears, Moser axles, and 245/55/R15 Drag Radials.
13.98 @ 101

This are two examples of Fox Mustangs where the underdog would win big time. These were the runs this year, and the 1990 has gone 13.5 @ 103, but he won't beat on the car. So it's really hard to judge the 1/4 but I would say, 14.2-15.0!!

No offense, but it's easy to explain those two cars and their performance. The 1st has less horsepower, but ETs better due to the slicks. I'm sure the 60' is WAY better than the latter car. The 2nd is obviously pushing more power (note the higher mph) but lacks the traction on those tiny drag radials. Probably lacking some driver skill as well compared to the other.
