dyno tuning

ok, so my drive train is complete, the problem is I need a full tune. I found a shop in Mokena (high Speed Performance) that has a dyno that can be rented, but they don't know anyone that can tune a '730 ECM. I have the abilty to burn my own chips but not enough to build a fuel map and spark curve. my question is do we know anyone that does this professionally? I am not real interested in doing the tune through the mail thing.

*note* I am not interested in "pull out the '730 and put in an another ECM" or "you should have put an LS1 in" as that is the type of crap that makes me not want to post stuff here. be helpful or be quite. not trying to be a jerk but I am looking for real answers here. thanks to those have helped in my project to this point, you know who you are.

Re: dyno tuning

doing it yourself isn't too complicated, I remember jeremy showed us the various tables and how to edit them years ago. You'd want to base timing tables off whatever cam you have and what initial timing you plan on running. As for part throttle tables, keep the wideband reading in the upper 14s and you'll be fine. Tune the fuel tables for 12.8-13.2 WOT AFR on the dyno. A good tune would probably take 12 pulls and cost you $300 at least in dyno fees.

Re: dyno tuning

Call up Straightline Performance and ask to speak with their tuner Mike (I think there are two Mike's there). Tell him what you want done. He was going to tune my 730 car with my Ostrich a couple years ago. Said he hadn't done it before but its just like anything else, and said he'd be glad to look at the software for a couple days to get used to it and then have me come in.

If I can find all of the stuff to make my Ostrich work again, you are more than welcome to use it.

Re: dyno tuning

yes straightline does have a dyno, but I'd be completely shocked if the tuner had any idea how to tune the thirdgen computers. Which is why I mentioned getting the software and posting cam specs and we can at least figure out the timing curve. Tuning the fuel curves can't be much more difficult. The dyno can hold the engine rpm at 100 rpm increments at most places to do part throttle tuning, but it won't be cheap.
