88 iroc rear end question

ok, i got a wrecked iroc with a posi rear but it has 2.77 gears . ive heard from a friend that i cant swap gears in it cause its lower then 3.08 is this true?he said id need a whole diff carrier? if this is true its for sale if any you guys want it just let me know

Thats true. the 2.77 is a 2 series carrier and you need a 3 series carier to install a bigger gear.

go to advance auto parts and go buy a gear spacer it will make it a stage 3 carrier i did the same to mine i had a 2.73 gear then went to a 4.11 and used the spacer works great.
