It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

How's summer going for everyone? Hopefully, everyone has got some windshield time in this year and there aren't projects still sitting in the garage.

Mine is almost ready for paint, just needs some more primer to fill in spots I had to sand to level. Still won't be a show car, but a coat of paint is better then a coat of primer (bet you never thought you'd hear that out of my mouth!)

Anyway, for anyone who didn't know, my stock L98 started suffering MASSIVE blow-by at the Putnam Park race in May. So, the new 305 is at the machine shop. Unfortunately, Curtis' block had egg shaped bores on cyls. 1 & 2 and would've needed to go .060+ over to be useable so we had to rob my buddy's spare block. Fortunately, the crank only needs to be polished, but we're waiting on pistons. Thanks again Curtis!

What's the summer season bringing for everyone else? Today's weather makes me wish I had something to go cruise tonight

still awaiting a way to get mine plated. Also now have a intake manifold leaking oil out the back by the pressure sender. I'll probably never have it going good this year...

my car will return from CMJ on Sat. I saw it Monday and let me tell you......this thing is LOUD!!!! long tube Hookers and true dual exhaust. unfortunetly, my budget is gone and there is still so much to do. oh well, I guess that is why we call them projects and not just a car

Camaro: Pull the intake and get a good bead of RTV back there. Come on! It'll at least motivate you to drive it around the block

Curtis: Sweet! We have to do a summer gathering so I can get a ride in that thing. Sounds like it's going to be a mean street ride.

AM3: I hate tearing it down for paint... especially when you pump 4 qts of oil out of the motor and all over the car

Re: It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

I'm looking to sell my blazer and make the Iroc a DD again. Also looking to do a lot of suspension work with the extra money from the blazer. I'm pretty excited to drive the Iroc again since I haven't driven it in almost 6months.

Also TJ I still have that radiator if you want it. I dont live in Homer glen any more, but I still work out there so I can drop it off if you want. LMK

Re: It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

That'd be awesome.

I kept meaning to call you but everytime I would think about it was because some other part broke and I'd be thinking about how I should've bought a spare. D'oh

Give my cell a call when you're going to be around and I'll meet up with ya: 708-837-7949

Thanks again.

Re: It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

I'm making slow but steady progress on my IROC. Unfortunately, Scat sent me the incorrect rotating assembly so that set me back a little while. Finally finished the firewall last week and after power washing the engine bay, I decided I'm going to have to paint the fender wells too. Just placed my order with Summit tonight for most of my parts..

Atta boy!

Frozer: Is it a new motor or old motor? Just checking because you should run dyno oil for break-in or the rings won't seat. At least, that's how I've always been taught.

MetalliCamaroRS: That's a huge project! Every time I've pulled the dash, I wasn't worried about most of the pieces going back in, good luck.

Re: It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

my season has been going really well....knock on wood. heh. 185 miles on the slowmaro and counting. Found out I'm going to need a lot better rear tires too, might hit up the 325/50R15 drag radials. Did some cutting in the wheel wells to make them fit too.

Cutting, pffft.

"Don't force that, son, get a bigger hammer!"

That was my motto last week when I was beating the wheel well lips in for more rear tire clearance. I want this thing to have real Pontiac Wide Track

Older motor, an L98 converted to carb. It does have a new cam installed that hasnt been broken in yet though. I just put in some castrol synthetic, should that be good?

well they have a section width of 13.5" and are 27.9" tall and have over 11" of actual tread width, similar in size to a 10.5W slick for drag racing.

Re: It's awful quiet... how's the season going?

My GTA has been getting some serious use. I've just got a new job and been clocking up the miles on her. I need to get this damn air fixed though.

Black car + no t-tops - air cond = sauna!

I still can't help smiling even if I have to battle the circada's from hitching a ride as I'm driving everywhere with the windows down.

Seeing how I've never had a RWD car I'm loving the occasional mini drift. I would love to take her on the track and see what she can do even if she is an auto.
