I want to get 11,000 pound truck plates on my Expy. Does anybody know the rules or how much they cost?

Why the "F" would you want 11,000lb plate for the expedition?? The plate is for what is IN the vehicle. Total vehicle weight. I have a 9,000lb plate on my '98 1 ton chevy diesel. It weighs 6,600lbs with me in it, so that means I can stuff the bed full of 2,400lbs of crap. Your trailer plate covers what you are pulling. But I dont recommend you pull anything over your trucks rated capacity because your brakes might not be able to stop it....obviously. A 9,000lb plate should be plenty for your expedition. Unless you plan on toteing around ALOT of fat girls :P And the 9,000lb plate was only $20 more than the 7,000lb. Hope that helps.

Good to see ya on here Jer. Back to the explanation, I heard you had to have a certain load plate to avoid emissions. I know your truck is diesel so you dont even have to worry about emissions. I just want to know how to get around emissions

Ahhh I see what you are sayin now. Here in central indiana we dont have to deal with emissions on anything. So Im not sure how that would work. Like xpndbl3 said, Id just call the DMV.

Nikki,
How are you doing? Im doing pretty good. Just getting bombarded with snow and sleet right now. I havent been posting much here lately, just lurking. How is your IROC coming along? Any progress sence the pics of it primed in Nicks driveway? If so please send me some pics. I had big dreams for that car, I hope you get it put together soon. Talk to you later.

10k and heavier plates don't have to pass. my father-in-law has 10k plates on a 2wd 97 exploder... years ago, a co-worker got 11k plates for his oil guzzling caravan...

I am doing good thanks for asking. I am looking forward to graduation, in May, so I can take a much needed break from Indiana for a while. Yeah we have been hit pretty hard by the snow here as well. To tell you the truth you would have to find out from Nick how my camaro is doing. Since him and I broke up I have only seen my car once and it was in his garage under a car cover. I had big dreams for that car too I am sure it will be coming together soon. When I know something I will pass the information on to you.
Take Care,
Nikki
