Anyone here remember Shakeys?

I would go there and eat plates full of fries and pizza and spuds and then have a foot tall sundae for dessert.

Was an awesome place to eat while watching the three stooges.

Anyone else remember them, most closed in late 80's early 90's

Heck yah!! Every kind of pizza under the sun (or heat lamp actually). I remember pigging out as if it were my last meal every time! There was one by the White Castle on 30 that I frequented often. I sure do miss that place! I suppose it's some expensive raw sushi type of place now. Someone should reinvent the all-u-can eat pizza joint!

i do remember going there when i was a little kid and we still lived in Park Forest. I used to love that place because of the huge buffet.

Another place i remember and am curious about is Wrights Barnyard....is that place still around?? i was so young, that i do not even remember where it was located.....

I've heard of it, but I'm not sure what or where it is.

Wrights Barnyard is still around, but its Hollywood Park. It's in Lansing, on Bernice road I believe. Accross the street from that car wash which is behind the K-Mart which is behind Dominicks on Torrence

U know,

Rampant off topic posts will be deleted, if it doesnt involve the original post concern, either dont post it or make a new post for it.

This was put out as a feeler for a semi-gathering/outing.

While talking to Tim I found that 1 of 4 Shakeys left east of the Mississippi is in Springfield IL.

I am going to find out if it is still the good ole Shakeys buffet we had around here or not, and if it is, possibly make it a get together/gathering

More will be posted in the future

And darned straight I will drive 3 hrs for platefuls of spuds lol

3hours is quite the cruise. I REALLY loved shakeys, but for me personally it's a bit too far. I don't even know where Springfield is. It is nice, however that there may still yet be one open. Maybe it's the original!

I remember the Shakeys in merriville because we used to stop there on the way home from U.S. 30 dragstrip. They even sponsered a car at the track. It was a little coupe called Hot Stuff. Those were the days.

Well

I still have to call them and find out about whether they have the buffet and spuds or not lol

But when I do and they say they have the buffet still.

I am going. I will post it, so anyone who wants to cruise down can, I'll be there either way

lol

I want my damn spuds
