GM performance parts siamesed intake runners?
I was cleaning out the basement and ran across one of my old GM performance parts catalogs from 1996. Was about to throw it away when I thumbed through it and I saw a set of siamesed aluminum intake runners.
At first I thought they were just SLP runners that were offered through GM as the outside appearance is the same as SLPs until I took a closer look at the description and the picture.
One side is fully siamesed from top to bottom and the other has a divider that is set back a little at the top, just like the SLPs, and flush at the bottom.
The description is as follows:
Runner volume, air flow, and divider length were optimized through an exhaustive program of dyno testing and development . Each pair has a tuned length divider in one leg only. This creates two distinct torque peaks and eliminates low speed torque losses.
Not asking for anyone to analyze or comment on the description but rather I am curious if anyone has heard of these, tried them and provided solid conclusive data as I have never heard of them.
I already hogged out both sides of my SLPs so I wouldnt be able to try it on mine.
No biggie though as I am very pleased with the results just curious.
Guess I wasnt too interested in these when I purchased my big block for my 74 Monte Carlo in 1996.
The part numbers listed are nolonger valid but here they are:
1985-88 - 12341415
1989-92 - 12341416
Regards,
Matt

Car: 91 GTA, 91 Formula, 89 TTA

Transmission: all OD
Axle/Gears: Always the good ones
Those are the original SLP runners.
The design is pure stupidity if u think about it in engine airflow terms.
They even realized this and came out with their crappy barely siamesed version.
They flow great, after you spend some time hogging them out in a big way :-)

I wish I was given odds in vegas on who was going to respond first with knowledgeable info.
Yeah Jeremy, It didnt make much sense to me either ( starve one side and feed the other).
Also, thats why I didnt want anyone to comment on the description as I thougt it was more marketing hype.
I agree on the current crappy design but I guess thats why I was blessed with a compressor and grinder
Thanks for the info Jeremy
