To lay my beloved posi to rest. She finally found her peace after trashing one last *****.
Now, to rebuild or replace........ Hmm........ There is that lovely article posted on the front page about rebuilding/shimming 9bolts. Or there is the option of a later year 10bolt with the 11.65" PBR's. Hmm.....
What to do, what to do.....
First off, need tune. That is what I'm saving for now.

Its roughly a 1K to rebbuild a 7.5 right.... I just did mine.
9 bolts cost a little more, but ultimately it comes down to what is actually broken inside the thing... If u just need bearings and a shim its fairly cheap. U need gears or posi , ouch...

Well, it could just need to be shimmed. But if there is slack in the posi, its likely it has started tearing up teeth. I'll know when I pull the cover off to change the fluid. But it whines when going around a corner at low speeds. So I've known for a while that its on its way out.
If the gears are shot, ls1 4th gen rear for me. If not, I might look into rebuilding it according to the article. I now know where I can get the tools needed to properly measure the preload, pinion depth and other fun stuff.
