Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?
Everything is getting done to my 86. Right now shes just a shell. Got the new doors lined up pretty good and hopefully after christmas the interior will be back in. Just waiting on window motors, sound deadener, and new carpet. Took the dash out to run the wiring harness for the power windows, as they were manual before. Shes pretty much a toolbox now.
Before the tear-down a few months ago:
I bought her for 500 bucks not running with a 305 and 700r4. I got the 305 running nice and test drove her a few times. Right before i was gonna get some plates and registered she spun a bearing, and the tear-down begun.

I ordered some original lug nuts from Hawks a couple days ago, and I'm going this weekend to pick up a dash pad and rear hatch shocks that I found on Craigslist for $90. The pad has no cracks at all. I couldn't believe he was only asking $90 bucks!

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?
ok so i bought an 87 iroc with 81,000 miles and runnig for $400. i recently swapped out the whole stereo system painted and cleaned up the dash re covered front seats ( still gotta do back). New head liner. As far as the motor goes, i am really just cleaning it up. Pulled the whole manifold off. and tpi system, ect and doing my best to restore them. Flushing alll systems, changing all gaskets or at least 90%. plugs n wires. removed the smog pump, and windshield washer fluid. going to takle the a/c compressor next. Stream lining my air intake and turning it into an enclosed system. Then outside not to much body work a little bondo on the roof in 2 spots about the size of a 50 cent piece. Then we will wrap the whole car in matte black vinyl. Crome out any and all visible emblems. Then lay pinstrip gloss black flames on hood wheel wells and ect. That is so far all the money i can put into this thing, but it is my baby so every extra penny i got is going into it. At least until i get my girl prego. lol

Re: What kind of project you got going on with your third gen right now?
Well as we all kno, I have been trying to get my car figured out the last few months in between work and being a family man. Yesterday I had it running and was playing with the timing and the idle and a few diff mafs. At times the car will have vacuum, and other times it wont. It backfired a couple times, so I decided to pull my plug wires off and get set to swap in a fresh set of plugs, while inspecting the wires, I didnt notice much...on the surface. I pulled my boot protectors off of the ends that attach to the plugs and notice a small hole in plug wire number 3. Then I went to pull the protector off of number 5 and the whole boot split into two So now i know that may very well solve a lot of my problem. I cant find my cable for the camera, but I will load pics as soon as I do.

pull the negative battery cable off and put a test light between the negative post and cable end. pull fuses til you find the fuse that turns off the light. then trace everything off of that fuse. go one by one unplugging everything on that circuit you'll eventually get it.

I doubt it. The dizzy had just been tuned up by them and their wires im sure are designed to handle the power. Its the heat around the headers that are worrying me. I had high heat tape, AND boot protectors on and this still happened... smh
