Thank you california....this happen to anyone else???
While working on the iroc this evening, I pulled out the registration to get the vin for my scanner, at which time i saw my registration was due 5/16/10
I never got a renewal notice at all in the mail for the camaro or my dd!!
I never realized the camaro was due since i dont drive it too often and ive had it less than a year. how am i supposed to even know if i need a smog check!!!
Now that the fee's for the next year total $141(so far) with late fee's, it looks like the iroc gets to be a driveway queen for a while....

I have had that happen before, SEVERAL years back, we had a P.O. Box and D.M.V. messed up the mailing adress. dmv waved the late fees, but the state had money at the time. When you pay your fees, they will let you know if it needs a smog. you can go to http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/pubwebqu...PubTstQry.aspx ant find the smog history. you will see smogs in even years or odd years, that will help you know if it needs a smog.
Main thing pay your fees the dmv will keep adding late fees and next thing you know you will owe the state more than you paid for the car.

this just happened to my friend. all be it he went over 3 months w/o renewing and got pulled over and car towed. he went to dmv and said he never got a renewal notice and they waved all late fees. now i know when my car is due and he should too caus he has had his cars a few years but you've only had yours for a year so why should you remember? anyway he got his fees waived. but he still had to pay for an impound cause the dmv didnt bother telling him his license was suspended either for a lapse in insurance. sucked to be him that week.

Pay the fees, otherwise they will keep tacking them on like mentioned earlier. I know too many guys with lots of back fees that lost interest in their project or ended up selling the car just because they let it go so long. Take the hit, DMV usually sends a renewal notice, but with millions of drivers in CA, its bound to happen sometime that they don't get it out to some people.

Yeah, has happened to me before.
Just pay up. You don't want to deal with this with your personal time. At least you didn't get a ticket.
