That's a really nice car 383. Are you going to come to the Cruise to Santa Cruz later this month?

Yeah I understand. Sometimes other things come up I missed the cruise last year hunting for my first house. We've got other events coming up over the summer. Are you on the facebook page for the group?

1. Yamil
2. I graduated from Sacramento State in 2012 and I am currently employed as a programmer.
3. I have a 1987 Camaro Iroc-Z 350 TPI
4. I have had it for about 3 days now. My brother-in-law gave my fiancé and I the car as a wedding gift. It was his project car he has had since 2007.
5. I would like to first restore it to its factory condition both running and looks. Afterwards, I would like to do an LS1 swap with a t56.
If you have any kind of computer related issues or anything relating to web development I can help )
I have been reading up on these forums for several months now because I was in the market for one of these. I feel extremely blessed to be able to own one now. I have always loved these 3rd generation Camaros ever since my dad was a pizza delivery guy in his back in the early 90’s. I look forward to meeting everyone else on here and I look forward to any upcoming events
The day I brought her home!
After a wash and clean and now shes in the garage!

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!
I used Intercity Lines (check out their instagram and website).
They were SUPER friendly and easy to deal with. They're a little more pricey than some carriers, but they move LEGIT cars on the regular and give everything white glove service. Definitely worth the peace of mind.

It cost me a little over $2K, but mine was from Boston to Santa Cruz.

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!
Hello! I am Bob. I am an Inside Wireman Apprentice (Commercial Electrician)(finishing up my 4th year, IBEW 332) and previously spent 8 and a half years at FedEx Express.
I am a born and raised Californian, spent my entire life in the East Bay Area.
I have an '87 TransAM. It is still in about a thousand pieces for the past 10 years but I have recently started to work on it again. Long story short, I've got married and had 2 kids since I tore it apart and I am now reaching a point in my career that I have some extra money and time to dedicate to it.
I bought the car some time before I started working at FedEx, so I would guess I have had it for close to 13 years.
My plans began 10 years ago, I have a fresh 383 sitting on an engine stand.
4 bolt 350 block, bored 40 over. Eagle Crank and SIR Rods, SRP Pistons
zz9 Copycat hyd. roller cam (212*/221*@.050, .487/.510 lift, 112 lsa)
AFR 195cc L98 Style Heads with 65cc Chambers
TPIS Big Mouth intake, Edelbrock runners, 58mm Throttle Body
LS1 Injectors, Adjustable FPR, rebuilt distributor, new 8.8mm plug wires, msd coil
Hooker 2055 Headers, Jet Hot coated.
I have new Spohn Tubular A-Arms, Tokico Struts, Eibach Prokit Springs and new hardware all around. All new steering components. Front Spindles modified for LS1 Brakes with turned down rotors for hubs. Wonderbar, Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace, Poly motor mounts and transmission mount.
I have a rebuilt (less than 10k miles) 700r4 with a Transgo shift kit, modified by pro-built. Corvette servo, Roadrunner 2400 Stall converter. Also have a governor re-calibration kit.
Tons of other odds and ends. Basically I would say I have 90% of what I need to put it together, either new parts or old parts that have been gone through and rebuilt. Now I need time and energy to get it all together.
Attached is a picture of it, 12 or so years ago.
I have been hanging out around Volkswagens for the past 7 years, I own 2, both modified. I have a 2006 Jetta 2.5L (love the 5-cylinder) and a 2009 CC 2.0L Turbo. They are both a lot of fun to me, but in all honesty I have been yearning for Rear Wheel Drive, V-8 power in my life.
I had met some really nice people off of these forums back in the day, pretty sure none of them are around on here any longer.

at the time was bout $2200 I was impressed with them they even had tarps under the top row of car incase of oil dripage from above don't cheap out on other carriers, intercity I heard good thing from them also.Make sure they are insured etc... the last thing you want is to have your car falloff the trailer I've seen pix of that I be devastated if something happened to my car cause I was cheap. current diesel prices not sure what they charge now keep us informed. ohh yea...welcome to the west side

thanks for all the comments I will take the front plate off and leave the holes.. thats the way I got it but a cop pulled me over and warned me in ohio to put the plate on...
what about smog testing..? i mean what if it is licensed as historic and not driven much..do they give me a break on that?
The car is well insured and I will look for cheaper than 2.2k

Front plate is required in California. You generally wont get hassled if you have grey hair and don't run the plate.
No breaks on smog at all.

Hi everyone,
Not new to this site but haven't been on in a while. Since the last time I was on I sold my 84 trans am. Had to get rid of it. Since then I've bought a 74 nova and 68 Firebird. Now I am back and looking to buy another Third gen. Not sure which one. I live in the Bay Area so if anyone has one for sale PM me and let me know. Looking to purchase on before the end of the month. That's the plan anyways.

4. How long have you had it?: Been driving it for about 2 years now

I wish there were more cruises on this side of the hill, I haven't been able to find much of anything since I moved here 5yrs ago. If you know of anything (even down in Monterey) let me know!

3. 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350 (Built 383 stroker swap)
4. Bought it when I first went into the Army and have had it for the past 5 years. Haven't driven it since 2014.
5. My goal with it is to just finish my rebuild and get it running already. Considering I didn't know how to change a tire when I bought it, I'd say I've done pretty well so far though. This car is actually what sparked my interest in my current major.

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!
Well that sucks. Hopefully insurance will pay you what you deserve. It is a huge PITA to find a reasonable price for a 3rd Gen that hasn't been molested and left out behind the barn. Good luck on your search! Out of curiosity, what are you looking to spend?

Also these cars always seem to be either extremely well maintained (and therefore extremely out of my price range) or are just left to rust and die, and are basically worthless.

Hey hey,
my name is Rick Taylor
I’m active duty Coast guard stationed in Alameda, been in for 15ish years. I also go to school online.
I have a 89’drop top RS (close enough to my dream car finally). I also have a 2016 lifted wrangler, and a SRT8 300
I just got it about a month ago.
Short term goals are to rebuild the 700R4, pull the L03 and rebuild (throw in intake, LT1 cam, 081 heads, headers, throttle body soacer, a 14” air cleaner, and have a chip burned for it, 3.42 gears, then get a new top. After that just slowly restore it back to perfect!
I live inVacaville, pretty good at wrenching on things, love building AR’s. Not to much I can help out with but I’m willing to give it all a try lol

Re: Nor-Cal intro thread - Tell us about you and your 3rd gen!
if any of you have a black TA from 85-89 and are thinking about getting rid of the car in the next few years please let me know. I have the bug but looking for a higher mileage car that I can drive and enjoy but has been kept well. Let me know.
I would consider a GTA but really want a regular TA like what I had in the 80s.
