I'm going with Camaro because they just look better to me, no ugly and annoying flip up lights and much better looking front bumper than the Firebird.

Camaro, since you can find one at any garage sale, & they're cheap.
Firebird shows you expect a little more of of an automobile.
Everybody knows Firebirds are a better version of the Camaro.
Hear it comes....

Re: Camaro or firebird
I prefer the Firebird to the Camaro. I prefer both the exterior and interior styling of them over that of the Camaro. The front of the Camaro doesn't bother me, but I can't stand the Camaro's tail lights. I also prefer the wheel choices on the Firebirds but that can be remedied easily enough. Interior wise I like them both but the styling of the Firebird seats is generally better, the door panels look better, and I have never liked the Camaro's steering wheel. I've seen a few Camaros over the years I wouldn't mind owning, but I always prefer an equally nice Firebird over the Camaro any day.

Re: Camaro or firebird
I say go for a Firebird, but in the end.. Both options are third gens. When I got into these cars I really liked Camaros and didn't like Firebirds, but I ended up buying an 87 trans am, because I became pretty desperate for a car, and well, it was nice .
Now I kinda prefer Firebirds over Camaros, however, I like certain things about Camaros that I dont like about Firebirds. I love em the same really.
Your choice, my two cents.

Re: Camaro or firebird
Oh boy, could this get any more pathetic? Arguing over the same exact car? Just get what you prefer the looks of. Firebirds are a bit more aerodynamic, but it essentially doesn't matter one bit, unless you plan on putting out 600+ Horses to the wheel, and want to do 200 MPH top speed runs.
I say Camaro, but just get what YOU want.
As for the noob that said make sure it's not a Mustang. Why? There are little 4.6's out there N/A that are putting down 300+ RWHP and kicking the azz off of a lot of F bodies. Even the 2V 4.6's are averaging 260+ RWHP with simple bolt on mods, such as a CAI, 75 MM throttle body and plenum. Some are making 280+ RWHP with a 93 Octane tune and just those simple bolt on mods. Now, throw on some Trick Flow stage 3 heads to a 4.6 2V Mustang, a set of Comp Cams XE278AH cams, and other supporting mods, better flowing intake manifold, ignition upgrades, bigger injectors, etc.. They'll be making 350-375+RWHP.
There is a guy that's running low 12's with a bolt on only 12V 4.6 New Edge 'Stang. Of course, he runs slicks, and commonly does 6,000+ RPM launches. Don't knock em' if you can't beat em'. I talked crap about Modular engines before, but I accept the fact that they're great engines.

My reply to you ended when I said "I say Camaro, but just get what YOU want." If you think that reads MUSTANG, you need your vision checked. I voted for Camaro, and said it plain as day.
I assure you that I was not implying that you should get a Mustang at all.

That's the whole point of it, man. It's one thing to be a guy with a nice personality, yet an okay car. But if you have a car that girls find amazing, AND the personality to go along, you're in good shape!
LOL, all joking aside, I don't care if there's any guys here that are strictly GM guys. I like both, and for the people that keep up the silly rivalries, shame on them. I'd rather talk crap about ricers.

I'm currently looking for a 88-91 Mustang GT 5.0, just another good American Hot Rod.
Good thing I didnt say "anything but an import" or shadowZ would have started blurting out Toyota Prius specs.

Haha, just kidding. If there's one thing I do dislike, it's Japanese cars. Some are alright, such as the Nissans, but 99% of the others are just rice, that run 16's in the quarter, and don't even get all that great of MPG ratings.
I am fond of a lot of imports though. Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, Koenigsegg. They're all great cars, especially the Koenigsegg CCXR. It makes over 1,000 BHP while run on E100 Ethanol, and gets 16 MPG's on the highway on E85. Not bad for a supercar capable of 240+ MPH. Not to mention, it does that reliably with only a 4.7 Litre.

You moron! The Prius is a true hot rod, with it's 70 HP 1.5 liter! The electric engine produces 258 FT.-LBS. of Torque! It gets 52 MPG's in the city!

Re: Camaro or firebird
I've had two camaro 3rd gens, and now two firebird thirdgens.
I like them both. I slightly prefer the aerodynamic advantage of the popup headlights, but it is one more thing to go wrong.
Also slightly prefer the rear spoiler on it. But like the 92 Z ground effects best. The formula's have the iroc type performance parts inside them, but lighter and with less stuff to drag over speed bumps and low spots in the road.
T Tops look nice, but leak and cause lots more body flex. It's another pro con of the 3rd gens.
If you saw a nice one for 1300$ what are you waiting for?
Oh, and camaro's are generally more popular so typically command higher prices on the market. So to me unless you have a thing for camaro's or what other people might say to you about driving a non camaro it would be what you see at a good price. Maybe I should find that 1300$ one so I can have three now

Polls are closed and hey look at that it's a tie. Imagine that.
I think this thread has run its course. There have been a jillion of these comparisons over the years on this site and they usually end the same way.
