I say March would be good. If we have to do Feb. Lets make it the very end. It will give some of us a bit of time to finish things up.

Re: 2010 GTG

Yeah, no kidding. I think this car is cursed. That vid was taken about an hour before the engine went. I really think it had an issue that the previous owner didn't let me in on. Ohwell, that's how it goes sometimes.

Re: 2010 GTG

How many miles on the car? If it makes you feel better, my engine blew at 69k miles... Then the Posi went out at 80k... Then the tranny started slipping at 84K...

I think I got the Lemon car. Maybe Formula's are cursed???

Re: 2010 GTG

I've been wanting to host a GTG for awhile, but things have just been too crazy these past few months. My house is in the process of being sold and just can't accommodate a good 3rd gen GTG.

I was thinking a BBQ car meet / car part sale might be a good idea.

Find a decent location to bring a BBQ and also bring stuff you have for sale/swap. If that sounds like a good idea, once we get near the head count stage, we could list the items you are planning to bring for sale and asking prices so folks can be prepared to make deals.

Other ideas?
Late Feb / early March?

I'm off work at the end of Feb. My IROC is just about to roll over 250k on the all original motor/trans/rear! I've watched it roll 2X's, so I know it's legit. Keep me posted. A few of us from Cen-Cal should make it.

Since time is ticking....
lets narrow it down,
Feb?
March?
Track?
Restaurant?
lets figure it out before it comes and goes.

Re: 2010 GTG

Lets be sensible bout this.. Most people are looking for a late Feb/ Early March meet.. so lets just say March and call it good. We did the track last time, although it was fun, we should try and keep GTGs fresh and do something different each time. Its not like we do these things once a month. Lets BBQ and swap or see if the guys in Central Cali or the bay area wanna meet somewhere in the middle and we can cruise to see them. The track will always be there.

track and BBQ is good. Park sounds nice, but I'd be bored quick also. Watching racing is good. if its cheap racing i'd run my not-yet-modded car down the track for grins. Guess that would be a wed night.

Re: 2010 GTG

Let's expand upon the BBQ/Track and include the swap meet idea to keep it interesting for folks that may not race, but want to sell/buy/watch racing and BS.

General Admission: $10
Testing Fee: $50 car/driver
Gates open: 10:00 AM . Testing: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

I'll make a new thread with details on this one and a headcount / seller-item list if this sounds good to you all.

Maybe the next month, or so we look into a cruise GTG for those that can drive on our public streets

Re: 2010 GTG

I want/need March so I can break my clutch in and get all the parts but if it needs to be in Feb, I will try to be ready. I'm thinking bbq/swap meet. I have some extra parts laying round I can get rid of. If it's at the track, cool, no big deal to me.

I'll make a new thread with details on this one and a headcount / seller-item list if this sounds good to you all.

Maybe the next month, or so we look into a cruise GTG for those that can drive on our public streets
Saturday Test & Tune is very low key, especialy in the colder months, not hardly any cars, plenty of parking & as many runs as you car can handle.
This is a no brainer

Re: 2010 GTG

With all the miles on my DD IROC, I wont be doing any passes, but don't mind watching you guys run either. Is there a spectator fee? Our local drag (Famoso) charges an entrance fee + a drag fee if you plan on running your car. Let me know soon so I can plan for this.

Okay then, I would be one of the spectators. But my friend Tyler (who I might be bringing with me) might run his 89 IROC. Keep me posted on the dates, so I can request the day off. Thanks guys.

March 20th wouldn't work for me Due to the fact that my car is going to be in a body shop during that time, (it's getting painted)! But there will always be other GTG's in the future. :O Keep me posted on the EXACT date. Thanks guys.

Its so far out, can you push out the paint or schedule an earlier paint job?

Bullydog, you're racing right?

Vinnie, you going to make an appearance?

Well the thing is, me and Larry (my paint and body guy) have been talking about this for MONTHS, and we had it planned that we would start work ASAP as soon as the weather started to warm up, which just happens to be at the beggining of March. I really was looking forward to FINALLY getting the work done . I'm not sure, I really want to come to this get together, and so does my friend Tyler (he was gunna follow me there).

Umm, I'm not sure, but at the moment its not looking like I can make it to this one.. even though I really want too. I will keep you guys posted.
