Need a transmission =(

My transmission has just about bit the dust. I'm not sure if I want to get a replacement 700R4 or swap to a 5/6 speed.

The search begins.....

Local shop will do a full rebuild with converter for $1800 including remove/install labor and give a 2 year/24,000 warranty. Seems about right.

That's actually a pretty good price, I can't seem to get under $2500 from the people I talk to.

Wow, now I know they're trying to rape me. I guess I will have to buy the tools and rebuild it myself. Can't trust anyone.......

Re: Need a transmission =(

I just got done rebuilding a 700r4 for a friend, I highly suggest a corvette servo. If you rebuild yourself and have any questions let me know and I will see what I can do to help.

whats wrong with yours?sometimes you don"t have to do a full rebuild like just replacing the second gear band and 3-4 clutch pack and transgo shift kit.i get my parts from www.bulkparts.com

I didn't have much against automatics, until I had to remove mine. What a heavy POS. Ouch, my foot. Ouch, ATF all over the driveway. Ouch, my back trying to drag it across the driveway. Ouch, my knees from kneeling on top of the engine grinding off the top rounded off bellhousing bolt from above with a friggin Dremel.

Free 700R4 core in my backyard for anybody. "Rebuilt with upgraded stuff" according to previous owner, slips on the 1-2 and 3-4 shift and does some other funny stuff but still went into every gear and was good enough for me to drive every day. (It's a POS.) FREE.

Re: Need a transmission =(

Look up Transmission Parts Distribution, Inc. on eBay (eBay store here: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/TRANSMIS...__W0QQ_armrsZ1)

They have guaranteed/warranteed rebuilt transmissions for extremely reasonable prices. They ship anywhere in the country at very reasonable rates also.

You can call Jeff, the owner, at 1-800-474-2415. He's very willing to help out with any questions or parts you may need. He saved me big time with help on my 700R4!
