Car Names.....

Ok, so it's not a technical question, but after seeing several signatures and reading a lot of the discussions here I'm really curious: how many people here have names for their cars and what are they?

My '79 is often called the "Batmobile" because of the way she looks in the flat black, but I actually call her "Evil Ways". Came from my dad being a hard core religious nutbag and completely despising my obsession with cars. I actually got the name from when he would say "your evil ways are going to get you into trouble, just you see." If he only knew..... My third gen has no name yet, I will have to see what kind of personality she takes on when I build her.

So tell me, what's yours?

Re: Car Names.....

My IROC is affectionatly called "yellow car'. It comes from the Chevy Chase movie Funny Farm where the family dog was just called "yellow dog". My Firebird is just called "The Bird". Pretty simple but it gets the job done.

Re: Car Names.....

The guys at the shop have a few names for my car,

First one is, "The Swiss Cheese Express", because these are several random holes in the back trunk & firewall area.

Second one is "Might-as-well", because it seems like when we change one thing, we might as well change "________" while we're there.

Re: Car Names.....

Mine is called "The Black Pearl". Named that way by two ex-girlfriends because that is when Pirates of the Caribbean was big and as my car was full black and my plans were to make it as black as possible. They related it to the black ship "The black Pearl". Surprisingly I liked the name and in stuck.

Re: Car Names.....

Fyrehawk. A variant of the name Firehawk, and not what you think of when you first hear that word hehe! It's a nice double entendre that there is a version of our car named Firehawk, but mine comes from the comic book from which my user name comes from. Firehawk is the girlfriend of Firestorm, and Firehawk looks a lot like the Firebird flaming chicken logo. So they go hand in hand. Only problem is telling people that it is not a true Firehawk hehe!

Re: Car Names.....

I call her my baby. By name though, she's ROXIE, you know why.

My friends always say when you getting "the roc" out, i want to see it.

So whats up with "the roc" you get headers yet

How come I dont see "the roc" out yet.

So her nickname is "The Roc"

Nobody will come close to touching my car, Im so OCD with people touching it (not that I care as it has scracthes and stuff, but get off my damn car, is more like it) that nobody tries anything like farting on my hood let alone asking if they can sit in it...haha. Just keeps people from messing with my car and the women love to touch it for that reason(try to get me mad), now I just need to figure out a way to transfer their hand from my car to my pants, oh yeah!

Re: Car Names.....

Her name is "JOLLY". AKA "Jolly Green Giant". A friend of mine actually gave that name way back when we used to go street racing in the bay area. Everyone in my ca car club used to have either red, black or white. My wife(girlfriend back then) wanted the DARK TEAL METALLIC. It was fine with me since we were trading her truck.

Guess that makes three of our cars called read dragon. LMAO! I hate that name. The guy that had the car before me named my car that. It even has a huge red dragon on the drivers door. Like 3' long 1' tall. He had some thick seat covers with red dragons on them. I tore them off and threw them in the trash at the closest gas station. Then on the dash in three inch red letters it said red dragon. I changed the name to the punisher. After the movie. have a nice sticker going on the back window after its tinted this thursday.

You too huh? Mine does agree with "Evil Ways" though, so it works.

As far as talking to the car goes; all the time. Mine is a tempermental beast, and we often have pretty heated conversations. I have seen a few posts above that have admitted talking to their cars as well. It's a sickness I know, but hey, I'm happy!

One more name the guys gave my car is "Giant killer" since I copied Bennies engine & added more compression.
Maybe the only diff between my car & his is, he will probably be able to run 10's w/ the A/C on.

In no shape or form do I wish any harm come your way, but isn't changing the name of a car supposed to be bad ju-ju? Again, just so we are clear, I wish you nothing but the best. It is, after all, just superstition right?

I thought that was just on boats. I have heard it was bad luck for cars too, but ya, I don't believe in superstition. Then again that could be why my 2 year old $250 head liner started sagging the other day. The guy at the ebay store said they only warranty the abs for life, not the material. So with only a thousand miles on the car since the new head liner, I now have a metal ceiling again. Still, the name goes great with the car. Its "punishing" me.

Ah, I see, don't worry bud she'll get used to the new name. Until then some 3M adhesive spray ought to fix you up just right.

Ya I took it out, but the sides are all very tight. I have 3 cans of the 3M, but I wonder if an upholstery shop might have a needle, that might stick in the fabric, & spray the glue all over, without having to take the fabric off? I would hate to mess up the fabric if I dont have to. It still looks brand new. One things for sure. NO THUMB TACKS lol.

Re: Car Names.....

My Iroc is Amy. I have had here for 18 years now. Hmmm, as for the rest of my herd. My work truck is Whitey, my 4x4 is just called "The 4 wheel", my 01 Cam daily driver is just called "The convertible", and my 442 ended up named The Silver Bullet many years ago.
