Re: TBI to Carb
I dont want to use my electric fan anymore so i was going with a flex lite fan and use a 4 inch spacer and slap it on the water pump pulley. I am changing my car to carb and gettin rid of all the smog stuff so i was looking at another way to keep the car cool besides using a electric fan. I am using the serp belt set up and using delete pulleys for my ac and air pump so i was wondering about using a old school fan set up.

Re: TBI to Carb
I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but why the hell would you want to do that? Belt driven fans are outdated, old school, hurt power, hurt mileage, and flat out don't work as well. Even the stock single electric fans like the one I have and the one you probably have are better. There's a reason GM as well as every other car maker in existence switched to electric fans back in the 80s and never looked back.

Re: TBI to Carb
Like darkshot said, im not trying to hurt your feelings or anything like that but you should just keep what you got (electric fan) because it looks WAY better and is WAY more efficient that with a belt driven fan. plus i doubt they mad a fan shroud for our car. Im pretty sure you can make one but good luck with that
just stay with what you got and use the money for something else dude.

Re: TBI to Carb
You can buy a stand alone fan controller for about 40$ just go to Kregin or AutoZone, it wires in and you can turn on and off the fans at whatever temp you want. That is what I am running; fans turn on at 180, and off at 160. Works great and is cheap, takes bout 30-45 min to wire in.
Just make sure you get the better one that is rated at 20 amps, and has a ajustable temp switch.

Re: TBI to Carb
The single-fan TBI setup is controlled by the fan switch in the passenger side head. The computer has nothing to do with it.

Re: TBI to Carb
ECM has absolutely nothing to do with the TBI based single electric fan setup.
And by the way - you said you want to "go simple". It doesn't get any more "simple" than leaving your setup just the way it is.

Re: TBI to Carb
I am actually Kahless' neighbor and am helping largely with this project. I would like to use one of those stand alone temperature switches for his fans, however i cannot find them in my local part store. If you guys have a part number for either Kragen or maybe even Summit Racing that would help a lot. Thank you. Oh, and the smog thing, in the county we live in up here they only require smog when you first purchase or sell a vehicle. Once you pass the inital, you are good to go.
