the v8 swap wont be until i find a better daily driver, and i get the money to do it, which hopefully will be a year down the road, mean while im hoping to paint the car, even if it is just a maaco quick job.

Well, nothing wrong with a macco quick paint job, just don't waste time and money on a 2.5" exhaust, I don't care how long the V8 swap is away, just doesn't make any sense. If you don't have the money for a 3" system then don't do anything until you do have some money saved up, that's just my

a new cat would more then likely come before a new exaust, while i had the oil pan out, i droped the hole exasut and checked for any rust holes and such and i didnt find any, although i do have oil leaking from somewhere, i thinking i need to retoque the oil pan bolts.

Oil leaking from the pan, that sucks, hope you don't have to drop that again and reseal it, that would really suck a**. Good luck.

If I was you and had to reseal the pan again, I would just pull the whole motor / trans and take a p!ss on it.

Re: plugging cat...get a vacuum gauge, hook to intake vaccum.

Note idle reading, sea level (Hanford is close enough) shuold get 18-20in/hg. (all in park)

Rev engine to 3000 RPMs and hold it, note reading, anything lower than initial shows exhaust restriction, more than 2in/hg lower shows plugging/plugged exhaust. You can also check via backpressure if you have a 0-15 (like TBI) pressure gauge, but vacuum is easier, IMO.

I don't see how a clogged fuel filter could cause poor milage. Bad carb, yes.

wont a 3inch exast just kill the motor (not enough Backpressure) for this v6? yea i know i dont got much of a performance (drag) car but still im thinking 3 inch is a bit much IMO

back pressure is bad! BAD BAD BAD!!! the correct term is scavenging, that is what you want, never do you want backpressure.

3" is fine!

3.4 swap

go get a used relatively low mileage long block for a couple hundred bucks

pull your motor out

put all the stuff from your motor onto the long block, drop the 3.4 in

done

easy as that

they have a decent kick as far as v6's go, still good on gas mileage, and it won't hurt your wallet to do the swap... Not to mention it's easy as all hell for just about anyone who can turn a wrench to do.

plus, smog will never know the difference, it all looks the same.
