Getting closer...

All I really need to do is get my missing fitting from Summit, bolt on the top half of the HSR and set up my serpentine pulleys.

Almost ready to fire the Black Beast back up!

Also as some have noted by my sig., I passed on the T56 swap because I got a WC T-5 almost for free. It was so much easier for me to throw that stuff back in anyways.

Are you preparing for "Dyno Day"?

It's lookin' even better now with the fuel lines done

All I need to do now is finish up these accesories. I need to change the timing cover because the timing tab in an old chevy (ie. short water pump) is totally blocked when you put the serpentine brackets on.

I'm thinking I need to change to that balancer too because the timing mark would be off, right?

Would that affect the fact that my motor has been balanced with the other balancer on it?

Am I just over-thinking it like usual?

Vin, you are right about having to change the timing cover and balancer too, yes the mark will be off. I still have yet to replace my cover and balancer. I ran into the same problem you have when I replaced my engine, it sucks, I had to scratch a new mark into it, and even then it's still off of course. One of these days my lazy a*s*s will fix it. Don't be like me Vin, get her done now, lol.

hey vin, very pretty, hopefully mine will look like that before the end of next week. hey question, how did you hook up your -6AN lines to your stock metal lines? with the 14mm to -6an adapters? thats what i ordered but not sure if it will work, thats what they said over at stealthram.com

i got all the fuel lines and fittings here with me, my stealthram is in the mail from indiana, my fuel rails are en route from summit, along with the 14mm adapters.

did your base fit well? ive read some issues with a bad fitment to the china wall.

*edit* btw i got something over you now vin.. 24# svo's :P

El TraviZio, yeah bro your right, I used the adapters.

However stealthram.com lists them as you need (2) 9894DBH 14mm x 1.5 - 6AN adapters, but in '87+ the fuel supply line is bigger and you need 1 14mm adapter and 1 16mm x 1.5 O-ring adapter, that part number is 9894DBJ.

IMHO the base didn't fit up super tight, but I tightened up the bolts and RTV'd it up so I am hoping for a miracle

I told you before like twice that you ought to run better with those 24# injectors.

However I'll probably score some LT1 injectors before the Dyno Day, but I really want to get into chip burning and burn a chip for some 30# SVO's.

I got these '89 Multitechs for free so I just want to see how it runs for now, I am dying to drive my Camaro again...

Check me out now!

Everything is all together and bolted up, but she refuses to make any noise for me, my fuel pressure is a big fat goose egg.

Looks like I'll have to do that Fuel Pump swap sooner than I hoped.

I think the AFPR I got with the rails is ****.

I can put the screw all in - 1/2 in - completely out or remove it and it will still get no fuel PSI.

I removed it and can not blow though it.

Sucking on the adjustable vacuum nipple does nothing either.

Good luck to you Trav, it was a pain to get it all in there and set up.

Actually it was my fault

I mixed up the supply / return lines (no instruction manual) according to the Holley online Manual, and I was able to get fuel psi.

However, Key on is only ~10 PSI, when it cranks it only bounces up to ~12PSI.

However, the motor did start for like a split second, then died, then it will crank and crank until it sits, then it will start for another split second etc.

It's inevitable I need to do the fuel pump and drop that tank. At least I have my truck and will go get a whole assembly from PNP tomorrow and see if that helps at all.

Maybe I'll even have a working gas gauge

Well, at least you don't have to change the AFPR after all. Sucks about the gas tank. I know how you feel though, I will be doing the same thing in about 2 weeks or so.

sorry about your luck vin, on the otherhand, my install is all done now! at first i had two spark plug wires backwards so it was misfiring, but i fixed that, then it started right up! i have it at 6degrees right now. unfortunately i dont have a fuel pressure gauge to check what its at. when idle or cruising, then blipping the throttle, i get some hesitation, but let me tell ya, after 4grand, i can already tell its a new monster. man those rpm's climb way fast holy ****. and its not even tuned in yet! i know i made a good choice here!

vin, can i ask how you adjust your regulator, seems like a pain in the *** to reach cuz you gotta go from the passenger side in a tight area with a skinny *** flat head.. have you found a secret method yet for easy tuning? lol. and any other tips you might suggest? like base timing and what not? if you have any questions too, ask away!

Glad to hear yours went well Travis, that was fast. Sounds like it's a lot faster, time for another meet, and a track meet as well. Have to see what kind of numbers she can pull now, that is after you get her all dialed in of course.

Well **** you got yours in quick Trav!

As far as adjusting the AFPR, what I actually did (which you can tell from the pics) is I bolted the AFPR on backwards, so the outlet fitting faces in towards the dist. and the adjusting screw is facing out towards the driver's side fender.

Just let me get this fuel pump issue sorted out, I knew I was going to have to do it eventually, it will be nice to have a gas gauge finally.

Do these fuel pumps always die when you have like 3/4 - a Full tank of gas?

Once you get that chip burned, that will fix some of that bog. I know mine will do the same esp. with these smaller injectors.

ahh yes i see now, i ended up using a 1/4" drive with flat head, and when i loosen the dizzy cap and lift it, i can get the flathead in thier fairly easy and adjust it. i did adjust it today about 3 full turns, no pressure guage so who knows. im guessing 50-60psi but all the hesitation is gone now. car runs like a champ. i cant really feel any loss down below, but when i scratch second gear at 5700 rpm harder then ive ever done, thats gotta mean something. after 5700 ive noticed it drops off pretty quick, i blame valve float. so i guess springs and rocker arms are next.

Looks good Trav!

And to top it off it runs

You and Eric1 can hijack my threads like a terrorist anyday!

Let's see the pic of the other side with the fuel lines like Eric1 mentioned.

Maybe I'm thinking my dying fuel pump was the knocking problem with my old motor. I believe I tested it at just under 30lbs when it still ran with the stock tpi + 350.

On the bright side I am going to pull a whole fuel pump / sending unit assembly tomorrow from the junkyard just to drive my Camaro.

I'm literally going nucking futs because I can't drive it.

which fitting did you use for testing fuel pressure on this smaller then stock shrader valve? heres my pics of the fuel line routing.

i see you came straight off the metal lines.. how did you adapt to the metal lines? they are male ends arent they?

Nice pic, I see how you kind of hid them behind the booster whereas I'm just a show off.

It's also called I'm too cheap to get longer lines and don't care if steel braided shows.

The fitting to test Fuel PSI they give you is F**D size, my fuel pressure tester came w/ an adapter.

Which upper rad. hose did you use?

I used the one for a TBI car and it is too small on the manifold end, I had to rape it to get it on there, but it wouldn't be the first time I've done that

Oh and as far as coming straight from the factory metal lines, we talked about that I thought.

Earl's # 9894dbj (1) and # 9894dbh (1)

Both of them let you run 6AN directly from the factory hard line. Looks cleaner IMHO, whereas your setup is more of the "stealth" look.

So you used the TPI upper hose but you put on the carb or TBI waterneck like I have right?

I might just dig out that old hose in a bit.

yeah i bought the spectre waterneck for standard sbc, and used my old hose.

as far as the fittings go. i buoght mine through summit, and as thier page shows when you enter that part number, n/a and they have an alternate part #. i thought its the same part just re-numbered. ill take it up on that offer now of your extra 16mm fitting so i just need to get the 14mm. the rubber lines will work for now though they are ugly heh. mine are male to male fittings.

TraviZ I have both the 14mm and 16mm fittings.

I don't know why but I bought an extra set just in case.

Feel like coming down? Want to tag along for a PNP run

I believe Summit changed the part numbers and just tagged erl on the end so it is 9894dbjerl and 9894dbherl now.

My usual PNP is the Fairfield one.

We could meet up and go to whichever one though.

PM sent!

**** man I used to work 56+ hrs. a week + school and buying my car parts, I was going insane and never getting anything done. Never felt like I could make money either although everyone told me I had a "good" job.

I've changed my life considerably for the better when I quit

Sweet Tony!

Yeah bro let me know if you're workin', I'd like you to come down and check out the Black Beast, should get it fired up tomorrow.I can come pick you up in the hELl Camino, ask TraviZ how fun it was

What me and TraviZ found was that the fuel pump had obviously been replaced for 1, and the return line I believe? was pinched off in the tank, AND the floating thing-a-ma-jigger for the gas gauge had broken up and was floating all around in the tank.

I'm guessing that's bad

Sounds like your gettin her done Vin, nice job. That fuel tank job sounds like it couldn't have been avoided, just came at the wrong time, but then again that always seem to happen.
