Street legal drag races...gtg idea?
I must say I was REALLY disappointed to miss the July 19th meeting, it looked like a blast from the pics.
But I wanted to mention a possible idea for a get together. Its been really nice up here on the northern cali coast (Eureka) and last night they had a street legal race at the drag strip to keep people from street racing down by our marina. Sorry to say there were NO 3rd gens racing. I didn't want to take mine out because theres a mysterious rattling that I want to get to the bottom of.
Anyway, I heard the next one like this is August 16th. (Plus its free!) There were a lot of the newer camaros and a few mustangs including cobras, and a viper...and even some daily drivers taking what they had out there to race. I thought it would be a great way to get a bunch of third gens together and show them off at the drag strip.
The drag strip is right near the beach, out at Samoa (if anyone is familiar with the area).
Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there. Besides, theres some great drives up here through the Redwoods
Its not on the schedule (last nights wasn't either), but if you want to look at the dragstrip's site, its www.samoadragstrip.com

So how did you do at the track?
The event on the 19th was great and the place was great.
How far of a drive are these races from Paso Robles? is it up the 5 or ?

Dwayne,
Redding is at least 8-9 hours from Santa Maria. Use the 5. You can get to the coast from Redding using the 299 if I remember correctly, it's been 15 years since I've beeen up there.

Yeah thats what i figure as well. California is one long state.
I doubt if I'll make it to a race that far away.

Humm looks like I'll be at Redding drag strip again on the 23rd Street legal drags start at 5pm. Was only 15 bucks last time out to run. Probably be the last time out for the 305 before dropping in th 355 :hail:

I heard there was gonna be a street legal drag in Redding (where I'm originally from btw). I went to the Samoa (Eureka) street legal drags last night. Only got to race once with so many people there then they shut it down early. $15 to race in Redding huh? They were free here, then again I hear Redding charges for everything. The race I did have, I won, although it was a VW fox wagon (the b/f's) which hasn't had anything done to it YET. I did happen to see a red iroc third gen out at the track, never got to race him though.
Wonder if theres anyone else from the north coast area on this board?
