Connecticut people..
Hey all, I'm looking to attend Baran Institute in East Windsor. I was wondering if any of you could tell me more about the surroundings. I will be stayin in Hartford. From what I have read online, Hartford has a huge crime rate. I want to know if these towns are are safe. I hate ghetto areas and am trying to get the fawk out of them, but now these two cities(in which I will be spending the next year in) are looking just as ghetto as the area I am used to.
Also, if anybody knows anyone that has gone to Baran, I would like to touch base with them to see what it is like. It is almost like this school is hidden and no one has ever heard about it.
thanks

Every city is bad if you live in the hood, and every city is fine if you live in the right neighborhood.
Unless you're blond chick with a big chest and a short skirt, I wouldn't really worry about walking around at night unless you find yourself in the bad part of town. If you're able to commute, get an apartment outside of town. The Simsbury/Avon area is fantastic if you can find a place that you can afford.

what are you going to baron to learn? I actually just had a bad experience with baron with a set of doors for a freind of mine. they charged her money to fix some rot they "fixed" one door (with about a 1/2 inch of bondo. and did not touch the other door. was not going to. and had kept the doors since september. she got them back last tuesday. they also kept her 200bux. good luck thou.
jim is right avon is a nice area. I would try to not stay in hartford but it is not that bad. unless you are in the bad part.

One of our members on here, tpi-hearse, is from East Windsor. Drop him a PM and ask him, or maybe he'll post in here. His neighborhood seems to be just fine...regular residential street.

Grab a place that they rent out to college kids in Bllomfield or W Hartford. Would be pretty cheap if you could get a roomate or two, and would be close. The area is nice as well!

screw baran and go to new england tech in warwick, where i went, school was great and the area around there is nice enough, although i didnt live there as i live in ct so wasnt worth moving an hour away. and the body shop there actually fixes the cars that enter it.

Hartford is your typical mid size city...crime, rape, shootings...all the bad things that make "inner cities" less attractive. I've grew up in Eastern CT and now after 10 years away, I live 20 minutes north of Hartford. Basically a 10-15 mile radius outside Hartford is a decent place to live. If you are staying in a place provided by your school then seriously....travel in #'s.

If you're into clubs and nightlife, Hartford is the place to go.
