My car should have been done a while ago. Ran into some "snags" and it still sits. Im all about a meet, but I dont think I will be able to do one this year. Although depending on the weather I may be able to around September. But Im not going to hold my breath.

Re: PIttsburgh
Yea. I can't wait to see those numbers
btw orr. i meant to ask you a question. I remember getting some advice from you on my FIRST engine build. you suggest AFR 195s for it. However i've had to do some serious rust work on the Grand Am and im down another pile of money. My dad suggested a 355 since "I've had really good luck with them, and it won't require any machine work for the crank. If that's still not enough power when your done, then you can just do a LSx swap later". Sounds good to me, and my budget. Anyways, my question is, on the smaller displacment engine, would the 180s be better? Or, with what you have seen on the FIRST system and what you know about engiens, do you think it would flow well enough to stay with the 195s, and just get a cam to match. I only ask cause i was reading the 180s are from idle to 5500, and the 195s are from 2000 to 6500. I was kinda shooting for a 1500 - 6000 power band, so i wasn't sure what would be better. Its kinda right in the middle. Although i also was going to spray ~150 so maybe the 195s are better either way???? No clue. Im still so new to this stuff so i figured i ask u if it wasnt much trouble.
and Summit has AFRs now (maybe i just couldnt find em before. but now i can!)
also, anyone need a hatch/ hatch glass?? I got the one off my iroc. I dont wanna junk it cause the glass is perfect, but i can't find anyone that needs one and i don't have the room.

Re: PIttsburgh
With the first on a hot 355 you can do the 195's. ALot of ppl run TPI stuff with 195's. they wont kill the motor at all. 180's are great heads too tho and you cant go wrong with those for a 355 either. For a bigger cam definately do the 195's.
More streetable 355 with smaller mid grade cam would be 180's i'd say

I've been waiting to see your car on the road again. Think you'll make it up to the wexford cruise anytime this year? My wheels and tires should be here this week so I can finally mine inspected and out to the cruise this Friday if all goes well.

Re: PIttsburgh
so were there any members at the etna car cruise last night? I was the only person there with the ***** to do even a single burnout let alone four. The only other person was in a mustang and he stalled it. lol
But ya. I think i'm going to be planning a dash swap from analog to digital. I was wonderin if there is anybody in the area that could help me out when i decide to do it. If anybody knows someone that can help, hit me up.
PS we need to have a meet sometime soon.

i hope to make a few cruises this year, thats for sure. I want to hit up wexford and i do plan to go to Irwin/Norwin cruise as well
wexford is far from me but i dont mind goin out there sometime. I gotta check the schedule for that cruise. I dont get out of work til 4:30 mostly so i hope i can get down there by 6-7. after i eat dinner, etc, it takes me awhile
but the car runs and runs good. Tracked it once already and ran 11.67 at 116 with more in it which is good hope to see low 11's at 120 in good air

Anyone head down to the flashlight drags today? It was a wash but still a good show for the hour and change it was running. THere were maybe 10 thirdgens. i think like 3 firebirds that were kinda crappy. A pretty good running GTA (low 13s maybe) a few FAST white RS's (12's?) and this one totally crazy black camaro that whooped up on everyone (11s)

Nice. I should finally have mine at wexford this friday. I ordered wheels and tires 9 weeks ago and finally got 3 of them thursday. DHL lost one and then decided the second time around that next day shipping from cincinnati should take about 4 days I did take it out for a little drive without an inspection sticker and the afpr definitely helped alot.

I got the Foose nitrous legends. The ones in the pic kind of look like them but its hard to tell. The spokes on the foose might be a little narrower. The three that I have look great on the car. Should have gotten bigger tires for the rear though. I may do that for next year.

Re: PIttsburgh
With the new paint and wheels its a big improvement. I'm going to try and have a new windshield put in this week. I had to take the molding off to paint and it was getting pitted anyway. I still need to get the decals and wraparound spoiler, but that may have to wait awhile. I'll get pics up as soon as I get everything together and take a break from driving it. I've only really had it out twice this year, and that was before the ignition and afpr. I miss driving it.

Ive done a tune-up on my bird, and ordered a few things. Ordered a new amp, new headliner since Ive never had one since I bought the car, and a power door relay from a guy on here. Already got the amp and installed it, its ridiculous, period lol. Headliner should take a few weeks to receive, but I cant wait to get it into the car. Relay should be here in a few days.
Next on the list is a nice Grant Steering Wheel

I got my wheels looking sexy. Ton of work and my hands and neck are killing me, but they're nice now. I stripped all 4 down with aircraft stripper, scuffed em abit, taped them off with awesome precision taping (), sprayed the inserts black with wheel paint, polished the aluminum after removing the tape, and then cleared em! lookin good now

Re: PIttsburgh
cool, I'll definitely be there one of these days. I dont know if I'll bring my car, its kind of embarrassing looking right now, being all in primer.
I was actually thinking of calling 1st-try engineering for my sfc's, I got a recommendation from a guy at JJ's automotive.
Now I just need to find a place to fix my stupid steering!

cool, I talked to him a couple months ago, real nice guy.
I'm only 6 months overdue on these things, they've been sitting in my spare bedroom since February.
I didnt even think about him about my steering. I'm at my whits end, and if its not fixed by xmas, the cars getting sold!

Hey guys, Im back from my trip. Went to Conneaut Lake for a few days to get away after my dog died last Thursday.
Im still looking for a block to start my engine build if anyone knows where an 85' or older 350 or 400 SBC is let me know. I found a 400 SBC that I was supposed to look at after my trip, but was sold this morning so my search is still on. If you even know of any 85' or older 350/400s that run Id be interested in those too.
If nobody can help me, Ill be going back to Craigslist & Junkyards lol.

Trying to get away from computers, thats why Im looking for 85' and back. I thought you would have sold that block by now lol..
I might have found a 350, its a 70' with Camel heads so its worth more than the average 350. Asked me how much Id pay, and I told him $200-250. He told me hed give me a call in a few days after he asked his yardman what he should sell it for. I might just stop back tomorrow and see, I really want to find a block so I can get started on it so its ready to be dropped in by this winter lol.

Re: PIttsburgh
you can run carb on it..just is setup to run roller cam which is nicer than flat tappets. its the way i'd go
camel heads arent anything special... actually most factory heads suck save for vortecs and L98 heads. But even L98 heads suck flow wise. even the aluminums suck
i'd just get a block if i were you and have it built up with the parts you want and look for good set of heads
