NEW CLASS!! Pro Dial at Englishtown
PRO DIAL DEBUTS at ENGLISHTOWN in 2003
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Englishtown, NJ – Any racer who has tried it will tell you that Pro Tree drag racing offers unmatched excitement, but until now that thrill has not been available to the grassroots drag racer. All that changes in 2003 as famed Old Bridge Township Raceway Park introduces the Pro Dial Series.
Pro Dial will utilize a .500 Pro Tree start, but allow racers to choose their own dial-in for each round of competition.
The series will consist of 5 race dates in 2003. Four of these events will be held in conjunction with Raceway Park’s newly formed U.S. MUSCLE DRAGS, a bracket racing event designed for all brands of American iron.
Pro Dial will be open to all U.S. cars and light trucks as outlined below, but racers should note that THIS CLASS IS FOR MUFFLED VEHICLES ONLY.
Racers should also be aware that Raceway Park has strict noise requirements for Friday and Saturday racing. Maximum db level allowed is 90db at 100 feet. Detailed information regarding this rule, and suggestions on ways to comply, is available on the Raceway Park website, www.racewaypark.com.

Pro Tree gets it's name from the obvious place - Drag Racing's Professional classes (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, etc)
Pro Tree indeed means all three Ambers flash at once. When the interval between the Amber and Green is 5 tenths of a second it's called a .500 Pro Tree (4 tenths is .400, which the above mentioned classes use).
Since most street/strip and slower race cars don't react as well, we chose a .500 Pro Tree to make more guys competitive.
This is far more exciting than waiting for the bottom bulb to come on. Incidentally, Sportsman Tree is the name for the typical 3-Amber tree you get during time trials and weekly bracket racing.

The Pro Dial class will have a cash payout and there will be some experienced racers running it. If we can recruit enough sponsors it would be nice to have a points chase.
If some of you guys want to try this, but don't feel you have the necessary experience yet, why not contact Raceway Park and tell them how you feel.
Maybe if enough of you were to suggest a Pro Trophy class they would add that to the four U.S. Muscle Drags events. Pro Trophy would be the best way for racers with slower cars / less experience to get their feet wet. (With much less expense.)
Be sure to tell them that you prefer the Pro Tree handicapped format to conventional bracket racing. They need to understand that given the choice you would stay home rather than come and race off the bottom bulb. If that's how you feel.
Don't just tell the receptionist. Be sure you speak to someone in charge of racing.

If your practice tree has adjustable roll out and you can't get into the mid .500 range (at least) try reducing the roll out (i.e. .350 for full tree try .250 for Pro Tree).
If that helps it will likely mean you will need to deep stage at the track (or at least deeper than dead shallow).
