I went to the track today...
I took the Firebird to Lapeer Dragway today (Sun.). It was the first time I've been to a track this year. I arrived about an hour late for time trials, only to find that they hadn't started yet, due to lack of attendance. The temperature was down in the low 40's - aparently, everyone stayed home because of the cold. They finally let us in, once a couple more cars showed up.
What a strange day it was. There were only 4 other race cars besides mine - unlimitted time-trials! The theme of the day was crappy 60ft times and high trap speeds. I don't know if it was the 43* weather or the fact that my BFG drag radials are on their last legs (probably both), but last year's 1.9 60ft times were out of the question this day. My first run yielded a 2.254 short time, ending with a 13.295 @ 108.52 MPH pass. Second run was no better - 13.36 @ 109.52 w\ a 2.293 short time. Third run I faired a little better - 13.096 @ 109.19 w\ 2.180 60ft.
During this time, I watched a Ford Lightning with a 75 shot of N02 (and who knows what else) churning out high 12's @ 111 MPH, a fairly new Mustang with a large shot of N02 (and slicks) running low-mid 12's @ 107 MPH, and a 10 second Chevy Monza, that broke upon launch, causing the rear driver's side wheel to go skipping down the track.
My girlfriend was getting cold, watching from the stands, so I agreed to make one final pass and then call it a day. As luck would have it, I ran my quickest ET (and MPH) to date on the last run. I finally got a sub-13 second slip!
The slip:
.673 --- Reaction
2.072 --- 60 ft
8.056 ---594 ft
8.567 --- 1/8 ET
88.07 1/8 MPH
12.987 --- 1/4 ET
109.86 --- 1/4 MPH
Good thing I didn't let a little cold weather keep me from racing today! :lala:

pskel350, I wouldn't say that you need a 4X4 , but yeah, the return road is a bit rough, though not as bad as the (dirt/gravel) pit area. The nice thing about Lapeer though is that they don't even perform a tech inspection. Last summer, I saw a Vega running low-mid 11's with no cage.
Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy in the last couple weeks. I'm pleased to anounce that I am now the proud owner of a 1994 Corvette with 75K miles on it! Can't wait to take it to the track.
Talk to you guys later.
