question on maryland inspection of classic cars
I'm considering buying a 72 camaro and see that I can get classic tags for the vehicle in the state of maryland.
I found the form online (on md's mva site) that I complete for classic tags.
do these tags entitle me to not have to get the car inspected or are they just some sort of status symbol?
I would hate to buy the car then have to jump through hoops and spend more money to make sure the car passes inspection...
thanks in advance.

Unless something has changed I dont think you have to get a historic car inspected. I think you can just go get tags and get the historic tags, it will save you a lot of money in tags and insurance.

Currently you do not need to put a car with "Classic or Antique" tags through the MD safety inspection. I believe the emissions test is not done on these cars either, up to 1976.

Camaros can get historic tags from 1987 back starting this year due to the fact the camaro had been discontinued (atleast for now) which makes the car emissions exempt, not sure about inspection exempt maybe someone can chime in and say if historic cars are exempt.

MD Inspection of "Historic" Cars
Just titled and registered my 87 Iroc as a Historic Car in MD. The registration is ~ $50 for 2 years. There is no required safety or emissions testing.

Hey Krayende where in harford county are you? Me and Rick (87whiteroc) are in harford county. We all meet at a fairly large cruise in when it gets warm. Ok enough rambling in someone elses thread but keep in touch.
