i hate exhaust systems!
well the iroc failed emissions test again this morning. did worse after the tune-up parts were installed. so i hit the muffler shop to get a quick weld job on my leaking exhuast sys, come to find out this is the scenario
rusted out y-pipe for the edelbrock long tubes
HOLLOWED OUT cat
y-pipe commin out of cat
intermediate pipe crushed above the rear suspension
and cat-back system cracked and severely rusted at ALL the welds
so i got a lot of$$to kick out for exhaust parts. yall can probably understand my frustration right now.
but i refrained from parting out the car because of this issue. needless to say it is gonna sit in the garage for quite some time.

For a discount Muffler Shop that don't sound like a discount. Do you at least get a Jar of Vasoline with it??
You should get the Cat back from Flowmaster. Summit Racing I think sells it for about $250.00. The converter couldn't be more than $150.00. The Y pipe is the real uncertainty. Call edelbrock and see if you can buy a new Y pipe. I couldn't imagine them charging more that $200.00 for that. If you buy all the parts, You could put them on yourself. Cut out Bennie the Butcher. What ever they give you is bound to suck.
Here are some parts I just looked up. Looks like you can save even more money than I thought. If you order, double check the P/N's
Catco Converter P/N CTO-9118 Cost $127.99
Flowmaster Force II Cat Back P/N FLO-17151 Cost $239.95
Edelbrock Y Pipe P/N EDL-25-9509 Cost $63.39 or
Edelbrock Y Pipe P/N EDL-25-9508 Cost $63.39

$1000 for an exhuast, gimme a break.
You could buy brand new headers/ypipe/cat/catback and still only spend about $800, with the headers being the expensive part.
cat and catback should be no more than $350-400 tops installed for brand new top shelf stuff. Anything else and they are trying to bend you over and do you dry.
Did you change the o2?
