MIR is a bit of a drive, and so is Cecil, but they are much nicer than Capital or 75/80.

I think there are more dragstrips per capita in Maryland than any other state...I think they were all listed...all quarter mile, too.
Mason Dixon-Hagerstown
75/80-outside Frederick, junction of rtes 75 and 80
Capitol-Near DC (Crofton)
MIR-Budds Creek
Cecil County-Cecil County, NE corner of the state
all are nice tracks, 75/80 is dumpy and the surface sucks, but it's a lot of fun to hang out and test/tune. Traction at MIR is incredible.
None of these tracks host NHRA National events. MIR is an IHRA track and does host nationals. The NHRA tracks all host Divisional races throughout the year. Great time to go see Stock/Super Stock action and alcohol cars. They all have big $$ bracket races during the year, too. Cecil used to run well into December, not sure if they still do.
I worked at Mason Dixon for many years, it is a nice track. Payouts could be better, but if you are just going for test and tune or street racing, it can't be beat. Street nights there are a great time.
Friday street nights at 75/80 are insane. The Quick 8 series is all 10.5" tire cars, and there are some high 4 second 8th mile cars there...75/80 is 1/4 mile but they run these cars 1/8 because of the tracks poor safety record
Division 1 bracket finals have been at US 13 (DelMar) in the past. Lots of fond memories from this place, even my team captain's race first round loss to the big Ford dually... That is a great racetrack. Close to sea level and great traction...big numbers there. There is also a dirt track and go carts all in the same spot.
Ok, I am rambling now, and making myself cry because it's winter and the tracks are closed and my car sat all year...

My best is a 14.667 @ 92.19 mph.
Capitol is good for what you are looking for and isn't that far from where you live... that is, if you live near twysted. You just have to make sure you check their website and check to see if they are running anything special the night you are planning to go.

Mason-dixon is a filthy toilet.
75/80 is a port-a-john.
Capitol is ok - that's where I usually go as it's close. Sometimes it's jam packed with ricers with turds that screw up the track for hours at a time.
MIR is nice.
I have not been to cecil but hear that's a nice track too.

I grew up right down the street from 75/80. It isn't an NHRA track by any means, but hell its a really good time from Spring through Fall. Friday nights are test/tune for street cars and bracket racers. You can race anything there! The track isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. They even have fuel funny cars there at least once a year to run the 1/8 mile. Its certainly up to par, and better IMHO than Mason-Dixon. So, if ya wanna race the 1/4 cheap and have fun doing it, then 75/80 on Friday nights is your best bet.

While we are discussing this question, here are a few of mine... For test/tune night, does it cost you anything? Also, what is required of you to have in the car in the way of safety gear (Helmet,5 point harness, roll cage, etc.)? I ask because I have never gone, but would eventually like to go and I am sure I am not the only one who would like to know the answers to these questions......
TIA,
