pulled motor from a GN this weekend
yea.. i helped a buddy of mine pull the motor(stock) from his '87 GN this weekend, what a sweet piece of machinery. I see now why TTA, GN, GNX, and regal T-type owners are so patriotic to their cars.. because their so awesome!! the guy was showing me on the net how simple the mods are you can do to the motors to make them run so fast... there are sooo many street driven 10 and 11 sec GN's out there its amazing. the blocks are built right and are more than capable of handling 11 sec runs. the cast pistons have a full skirt( right term?) around the bottom so they dont move sideways at all in the cylinder. the 'race' blocks you can get have six bolt mains anyways, too bad the initial investment of one( a GN) is so high.. upwards of 10 big ones.

Car: 87 Formula 350
Engine: 350
Transmission: 7004R
Not if you look around for awhile. Start poking around, someone will have one that they want to get rid of. I purchased one a year ago for 7K cash. It's loaded and was still totally stock!! NOW I have a Solid top and a CF5 Powered Moonroof car. If I only could find a deal on a 87 Ttop car.....

Car: '86 IROC-Z + Misc. project cars.
Engine: Supercharged + Nitrous TPI 355 CID
Transmission: Art Carr built Th700r4
Don't forget, 86-87 T-types and some Regal Limiteds had the same intercooled turbo 6 banger plant. You can usually find them for much much lower cost than a GN! How about a silver Regal Limited with gray vinyl landou top (Grandpappy looking ride) running 10s LOL. Or if you find one that is rough swap out the engine into your F body, Stick your tired F body engine in the Regal and sell the Regal to get some money back. Then build the turbo 6 up as you can and confuse the hell out of guys that can't even hear your engine idling.
