My 1987 Trans Am GTA

Hello all, this is my first post in over a decade. I used to own a gunmetal 91 GTA that had an SLP T-Ram on it. Unfortunately, that car was totalled and I took a break for about 6 years. I got into 4th gens, bought a WS6 6-speed and loved that car. Then I bought 2000 Mecham Trans Am #004. Both cars are wicked but I missed my thirdgen so I sold my WS6 and picked up this 87 GTA from member TwoTimeSC. Awesome seller and I can't be any happier with the car. Truly is amazing that I enjoy driving a thirdgen more even though it's only got half the power of my LS1 4th gen.

She's a 350/auto hardtop car. Right now, I'm just driving and enjoying her but I'm going to address a few things to get her back to close to perfect. For starters, she'll need a new harmonic balancer and these v-belts have got to go! Going to be doing a serpentine conversion in a couple of weeks as parts come in. Here's a few pics. The interior shots are from the seller.

Heads and cam are in the car's future. I've already picked up a Superram for it too. Should be a fun project.

Thanks guys! It's awesome being back in a thirdgen. Even with all the headaches.

Sold it after my 91 got totalled. Honestly I was happy to be rid of it. It's a complete pain in the a** working with something that rare. Great intake but I'd never go that route again.

Re: My 1987 Trans Am GTA

I just got my Dewitts aluminum radiator in. When I got the car a couple of months ago, I was shocked to find that all the coolant hoses in the engine bay had 1987 date codes on all of them. All of those have been replaced just for peace of mind.

I got my brand new Dewitts radiator in today

Inspection under the car revealed that the harmonic balancer is getting old, so that's going to come out. Since all of the front accessories are coming off, I'll be doing a v-belt to serpentine conversion and putting the above radiator in.

Suspension was redone with Koni Yellows, and new Energy Suspension poly bushings and end links on the sway bars.
