Re: MILD RESTO-2nd owner 1991 WS6 GTA
havent posted in a while, in the process of assembling a 2nd 383 with the original engine that came out of the car. the first engine was temporary, this one will be a more permanent engine with better parts.
either way, next is interior!

kinda funny thing happened.. i received a box from Ken, and i get all kid like open it up and its a first intake!! woohooo, im excited my guy s at the shop come to take a peek and bam, i notice it is for a vortec bolt pattern. I immediately call ken and I’m like yo, what’s the deal. Ken says you cant have your intake because im working on it right now. A little mi-up and i got shipped the wrong one. NO biggy, boxed it back up and printed out the correctly label and shipped it away.. Whomever you are, I dropped a few of my business cards in the box, and your intake looks nice, Ken says mine will be here this week.

LOL! I am doing almost the same Resto. 1992 Trans Am GTA. Finishing the suspension and installing rear end now. It's getting a QA1 Level 2 coil over and Hawks Rear end with 3.73 Gear ratio. Body, engine and transmission will be getting done this winter. I am thinking a 396 Stroker.

nice build you got going! I'm really lovin the 91-92 front ends so much I am going to do this to my 90 Formula I found a 91 non aero front bumper cheap! but in Buffalo - a good friend lives there and has it just working on getting it shipped - poor doner car:

I am curious about this swap what seems to me to be an issue is the 383 usually is externally balanced and you need a thinner balancer from what I've read

Looks like it got hit by a train. Not really, but damn it's smashed good. 3.1L? Needs a part-out thread, or a place of honor in a build thread.

Awesome to see this one being saved!
I'm slowly rebuilding a Blue 91 Trans Am basket case I bought. Sold off most of the drivetrain and will be putting in an Ls1.

Hey, from AZ as well, just picked up a '91 T/A as a project, has a 330hp 350 GM crate motor in it from like 15-20 years ago. Got a bit of work ahead of me before it is on the street again, fuel pump, and go through all other needed parts...
Your car is looking good, maybe I'll see it one day at a show or something!

Re: MILD RESTO-2nd owner 1991 WS6 GTA
Been over a year since last post..
New motor had been built, and it’s currently in a plastic bag.
Had a brother pass from cancer, and my mom pass from age.
Then no BS my dog choked on something she ate and had to be put down,
My wife decided it was time for a divorce, and got lost my job due to covid.
If that ain’t a country song I surely don’t know what is. That being said, I have been rebuilding myself, and looking into the future. I got to keep my house, and all my toys, just basically had to pay a sum of money to make her happy.
I have since located a shop to redo my entire leather interior, from seats, to door panels, to restitching the shifter handle/e brake handle and steering wheel.
I was able to take a job overseas, and was able to plus up the bank accounts. Thanks to this, the GTA should be back on the road in 2021. I have contacted gbodyparts to see if they can gold powder coat me some 18 inch mesh wheels, since all they sell is black.
Also have been looking into a tubular K member, control arms, and all the parts to add sub frame connectors and all that jazz. Possibly, looking into a 8.8 or 9” complete, bolt in, ready to go axle.
I believe that will round out my small GTA project.

...nearly one year since my last post. Car is moved from storage, been cleaned, and ready to come back to life.
Funny how time and life has its own courses that both seem to cross paths at some time

ahhh, umm, nearly one year since my last post... again lol
just pulled the hood ooff and got the gantry crane set up, time to sit the new/old engine in and maybe bring this back to life this year..
i just find it crazy how time just flys by and it's another year in a blink of an eye.
also, was really weird having no family for the holidays this year, seems my home had turned into just a house now.

Re: MILD RESTO-2nd owner 1991 WS6 GTA
id did bolt the engine to the trans last night and put the hood back on.
took the easy way out for the old motor mounts, used a cut off wheel and zipped the heads off. put the new mounts on the engine and set it in the frame. got the trans lined up. I'll put the bolts through the motor mounts once i get the car up on the lift. I have a scout on the lift now, and itll be off in the next day or two.
When its in the air, ill install the knock sensors, oil PSI switch, headers, exhaust bolt the converter to the flexplate..
After that it'll be bolting on Ken's TPI, and finish stuff from inside the engine compartment. Maybe i can hear the new motor run before not too long..
It's still on the original 1991 computer, I really want to switch it to the "LS" style computer so i can tune it myself.
