'88 Trans Am GTA LB9/T5 Restomod
Hello! I been around thirdgen forums for a while, but I finally got myself one, a pretty large project no less, but hey, that's the fun part right? I'm no stranger to 80's GM cars, I was into Fiero's for 8 years before I wanted a change.
I dragged home a $500 88 Trans Am that was kinda rough. It's missing alot of parts, ones that I'd like to get in time here if possible, or from Hawks. Came with a total trash LB9 that was all in pieces that I plan to scrap and sell the intake.
Now, there is no RPO sticker anywhere, which is upsetting, however it has the digital dash and dash wiring for it in it, the map pocket says GTA, and it's absolutely a factory manual car, even though the T5 is gone, so it's safe to say it's one of 809 '88 GTA 5-speed cars! Is it rare? Somewhat. Is it desirable? Not really. Haha.
I know this poor poor car was a parts car at somepoint, because nearly everything of value is gone, and many body panels and parts aren't orginal, I can tell. No one did remove the dash though. Even the power doors were removed and wires cut, it now has a set of COMPLETELY rotted out manual doors which I really hate. They need to go. Whatever you see in the pictures thats missing, I probably don't have it. No trans crossmember or torque arm.
It has some rust but not too much, very manageable for me. I plan on doing truck LS/T56 swap, plus other upgrades down the road (and hopefully not ON the road!) I'm just a broke college student for the moment so...i'm doing what i can!
It now looks like this.

Welcome aboard Mattwa!
I look forward to following your progress. if your scrapping the LB9, and selling the TPI setup, what are your plans for an engine?
