Good job Texas, mucho calor!!!! I lived in and grew up in El Paso, then moved to Florida, then as a college student/single male moved to San Antonio, TX when I was 19 and continued college/messed around with hundreds of girls, then moved back to Florida and got married at 25/26. That Texas sun is killer. I played football/baseball/golf in highschool...I know how it is!!!!!

Re: 1991 Firebird
This morning was great. Something left partially digested rat on my hood. At least I have dinner now.
I squirted it off the car, washed it, but because it was left on the car overnight, it will need to be either clay bar'ed, compounded, or cleaner/sealed with O-6. Thanks cat or racoon...I see your tracks on my car!!!

Re: 1991 Firebird
Better than having a dead rat somewhere inside the car. Might want to put out some poison to keep that from happening.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Yesterday I was browsing for parts on craigs and ebay when I came across these. I like the 91-92 T/A taillights, but not enough to swap over to them. However, I want these!!! I sent the seller a message asking about any of the problems with them and hope to get an answer soon. I will probably not buy this exact set because of what looks to be dents in the plastic but I know these things sell for around that price or more.
I have some questions for you all too. I noticed some sets come with the PONTIAC lettering and some do not...did only certain modesl get these, or possibly only 92 specific??? For those of you who have had yours delaminate on you...how bad does it look when they are lit up at night? Is the delamination very noticable?? This set is blacked out so in the day time you won't be able to tell just by looking at them with no lights on.

delamination is not visable at night, looks like *** during the day.
all the lights have the PONTIAC on them, but its painted and fads off if the car sat in the sun for most of its life. there are reproduction stickers to replace them.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Yeah, much like the whole "Firebird" or "Trans Am" and chicken script on center pieces on 4th gens, these have repro stickers that are offered in catalogs from places such as Year One and Classic Industries. As far as delamination, are you meaning the "neutral density" grid pieces seperating from the inside of the lens? If thats the case, my Dad's 85 T/A had that occur a long time ago and it also looked horrid. I never did anything about it though. Now the kid down the street from my folks has had the car in his back yard for close to 7years and I wanna restore it. Just not enough $$$

Thank you, Dave!! We are very anxious to have the new arrival to the family. The house is in need of new windows and a new a/c unit + ducting. Luckily my uncle works for a guy who plans to give him the business. We all golf frequently so I know the owner well. We have several cost free options for baby sitters including my father who plans to either golf with or go swimming/tikki sleeping with him/her. If you don't know...over last winter, we all built a tikki hut out at my parents place...here is a progress photo.
We finished it and it doesn't leak one bit. Going to be our super bowl party place this year. Has a T/V, surround sound, and lighting...plus more to make the experience even better. My wife is a 49ers fan and I bought her a Vernon Davis Jersey this Christmas.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Trust me, suspension and motor/trans are next on my list of things to do. However, fixes to my paint are priority because Evelyn's cousin does paint/body work. He used to own an 86 Camaro and has a place in his heart for 3rd gens. I'm in luck!

New babies & LS7's usually don't mix very well together! Well, okay, maybe if you have a money tree orchard in your back yard they do. That would be sweet to have an LSx in that thing though!

Re: 1991 Firebird
Since someone bumped this thread I figured I'd give it an update. Nature has really taken it's toll on my car. This is my brand new 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie
This is my 2013 Ram Laramie with the Vandal.
Kind of hard to see I know...but that my friends, is a peacock. He is staring at himself in the bumpers of my brand new truck and after this picture was taken, will attack and scratch the **** out of what he thinks is another rival peacock. Not only will he do it to my truck, but after shooting him with my BB-GUN, water hose, and trying to run him over with my truck, he eventually gets revenge and attacks my Bird.
And then there was no peacock.
I pulled this picture off of google...but I got rid of that peacock and gave it to a local friends who owns a restaurant. He ended up cooking it for us...taste like turkey.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Yes I know, some probably wouldn't agree but...myself as well as everyone else who tasted it had never before. Definitely interesting. Not like it is endangered.
Another update...the bird is for sale locally but for a price I probably won't get for it(intentionally.) I don't want to sell but if someone wants it for $5,000 they can have it. My father and I purchased a project for us to work on as a father/son project. The car is a 1969 Mach 1 Mustang. For $800, we couldn't pass it up. One thing I'm having trouble comprehending is how the Camaro(even the 1st gen) is so much easier to swap to a new platform than the Mustang. I mean, really...not only is it cheaper but you don't need to cut the strut mounts and part of the sub frame rail just to swap a new modular motor in. I've purchased a couple magazines also and most of them are from 79-now which is amazing being GM magazines show A LOT of 68-on cars.
Another update is that I am in talks with a guy in Ocala who is willing to trade his 91-92 T/A lights for my blacked out Firebird lights. I hope is really is willing to do so. It would really add to the theme I plan to finish on my car.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Crazy story man.....peacock??? Lol see if ur cars werent so shiny this would have never happened ...let the cars accumulate just a little dirt...that should solve ur future attacks ....glad to hear the firebird is still in ur hands
#88
Re: 1991 Firebird
I can't help the shiny, man.....my wife's car hasn't been attacked because I don't wash her car. She used to complain about that but I should probably tell her I didn't because the peacock would have attacked it. I am very surprised because I was going to clay bar the bird last month but if felt so smooth even though is has always sat outside exposed to the elements that I didn't. A simple polish and wax did the trick. Had a lady in a red 08' Charger open her window yesterday at a stop light and say "Hey Man, NICE CAR!"

Re: 1991 Firebird
So I purchased the 91-92 T/A and GTA taillights and plan on making them look just like pictured in my previous post. Can't wait for that. Suspension is next but that will probably be after the F-Body Gathering.
I also purchased a car hauler back in December for $350. Really good deal. Double axle, only needs tires.
ALSO, after the gathering in May, a garage is in order!!! I'm hoping to have that before 2015. That includes an enclosed space and a lift.

Sounds like a good deal for a car hauler. Congrats
Yay... a garage! And a lift? That will be awesome.

Re: 1991 Firebird
Hopefully they won't be so few and far between.
Thank you!
Hopefully you can make it. I have yet to see your car. If you do end up going let me know. I am not going to be parked with any group this year.
Glad to see you didn't give up on the car Jim! Sounds like you are bringing the car to The F-Body Gathering? I am trying hard to get my car ready to take to that show. Should be fun.

Sounds good. I plan on going whether my car is ready or not, but I am pretty sure it will be ready by then. I think Luis (Motobooks) is planning on going too, but I'm not sure if he will be bringing his car or not. I am looking forward to it. Hopefully you will get to finally see my car!

Which car does Luis plan on bringing, if he does at all?

Dude,
That car has come a LONG way from the last time I saw it in San Antonio. Great job!
If you sell it to pour $$$ into a Mustang, I will slap you.
How far are you from the Georgia border?
Bill

Re: 1991 Firebird
Luis talked about bringing his TTA, but I doubt he will. He will probably just drive his truck up there. I'm not sure if you know or not, but he no longer owns the '84 TA.
