Re: Post your firebird pics
Thanks man! The pinstripe is OK, its alot better than alot of the pinstripes Ive seen on third gens. If I had it my way it would be taken off, but the previous owner had it painted on. Ive been too chicken to take it to the body shop and have it wet sanded off. I think the car will be repainted soon though.

Trust me I know, all my nephews and neices call me Uncle Knight Rider cause of my TA, but it would fit better if the car was black . A lot of work and $$$ involved in changing the color but it would be soooooo worth it haha.

Re: Post your firebird pics
The 3" Harwood cowl hood has a few little issues to be addressed still, but it all comes with the prepping of the hood before install. I found it on Ebay about 150 miles from me late last year. The guy had been trying to sell it for a long time with no luck, so I called him and made him a cash deal outside of Ebay. Long story short, $100 later and $25 bucks for gas and I had the hood home. It was laid in 07' and had never been installed on the car it came with when he bought it from another guy, so the hood was flawless. Even came with Harwood's replacement hood hinges for it and all the mounting hardware still taped to the underside of the hood.

Those are the stock ground effects, just tried to clean up what the general supplied when we re-did the body. These cars were not designed with panel gap in mind :-(

Re: Post your firebird pics
In '92 I moved back to the DC area. Shipped the car to L.A., then drove it across the country. After about 13 years of mainland living in VA, MD, IN, and KY, I finally got back to Hawaii. Shipped the car from Baltimore, and have been here for the last 5 years.
It helps to avoid parking it on the street. Most of the time, mine is in my carport, hidden from public view by the wall surrounding my townhouse complex. It was actually broken into a couple of weeks ago while it was in the shop for some minor work. It was parked on the street near the shop, since they have more cars at any one time than they have room for on their lot. The thief only got the radio, a small toolbox, and the big Maglite I keep beside the driver's seat. So much for car alarms. At least they didn't get to my amps that were hidden underneath the subs in the well! The radio was 9 years old and outdated. I was already planning to replace it, but hoped to get by until next year. Oh well. Now I'm gonna do a double-din conversion and put in a Pioneer Z110BT.

Re: Post your firebird pics
Mine was added by a body shop as a freebie after they kept my car three weeks longer than planned because the heater in their paint booth broke. (I was in Northern Virginia at the time). I like the stripe. I've always found the monochromatic color scheme on the GTAs to be a bit boring. In fact, the next time I repaint, I'm thinking of having the ground effects pieces painted gold like the regular TAs. I know that will offend the sensibilities of the "stock *****" but I've had the car for 20 years and I'd like to change it up a little for the next 20!

Re: Post your firebird pics
I guess it all depends on where you park them! Actually, the car spent 13 of its 20 years on the mainland. I bought it new in Honolulu in Sep. of '90. It had sat on the dealer's lot for a year and a half, unsold. (I must have put 40 miles on it during three different test drives trying to figure out what was wrong with it. Never did find a thing and it's been the best car I've ever owned!)
In '92 I moved back to the DC area. Shipped the car to L.A., then drove it across the country. After about 13 years of mainland living in VA, MD, IN, and KY, I finally got back to Hawaii. Shipped the car from Baltimore, and have been here for the last 5 years.

even tho thirdgens are no longer theft magnets they used to be mine is getting a gps locator when i settle on a good one. im trying to keep mine as it came from the factory. the only thing i left off are the rubber side moldings after it got its new paint a few weeks ago. i did have them repaint the moldings and they can get glued back on anytime. it just looks better to me without them.

Heres mine. Not much done, but it all works. Im saving, and studying for an LS1/T56 swap in the next year or two.
Recently painted, with only an exhaust and radio upgrade. And of course wheels and tires.

Re: Post your firebird pics
Here is a newly taken pic of my '91 bird. From what I can tell, its an odd combo mashup of the changeover from the '91 to the '92 styles. It has the new nose, but no ground effects, and the slimmer (and im my opinion more appealing) wing on the back.

Re: Post your firebird pics
I agree on the side moldings. Cars look much better without them. On the other hand, I'm sure you remember how cramped most of our parking lots are out here. Since mine's a daily driver, I'm not sure I dare leave them off! I won't be repainting for at least a year anyway, probably longer. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
