Car: 1991 Camaro RS
Re: well shes painted
i think its SICK man! at first i was like "wait thats a firebird......no its a camaro.....OHHH its a firebird with a camaro front end!!!......or vice versa LOL" Whatever the car originally was, i think its a very cool idea to mix like a FireMaro combo hahaha this is the first time i've seen it done and to me, with the paintjob, it looks cool as hell. good job bro!

im not a huge fan of the fire/maro but i;m not one who hates it either. for a flat black paint job its alright, some gloss paint would be nicer, but i know that's $$ we don't all have. IMO you need the rear ground effects for the bird, because the camaro front has GFX. do that, get some paint on it eventually, i think you'll have a nice, unique car. oh, get some pics in the sun!

Re: well shes painted
the DARK spots are because primer is porous. its also hydroscopic which means it absorbs water. All the rat rod guys wipe their primer jobs with WD40 or pledge furniture wax.
Nice job; not my style but I can see why youre proud and thats kick ***

Re: well shes painted
It takes a lil trial and error but you can thin rustoleum with acetone and spray it with a cheap harbor freight spray gun. I still prefer the Astro brand guns (look online) Theyre almost pro quality for 70 bucks.
That being said, Acetone is a HEAVY solvent, so use a little acetone and mix it thoroughly. Make sure you mix it in 'parts' IE 4 tablespoons of color to 1 tablespoon of acetone. Go to Napa and buy a disposable respirator as well. they're like 11 bucks. enamel is some nasty stuff to get in your lungs, even rattle-canning it. You can get implement grade catalyzed enamel from Central Tractor, Farm & Family, Napa etc etc for something like 50 bucks a gallon...and thats more than enough to spray a whole car with. buy a gun from harbor freight, rent an aircompressor and buy a mask...go to town
No stripes on your ride though...very nice honestly. Im impressed. Dont forget painting over that rattlecan or XO or Rustoleum is heap BAD mojo. If you use 'real' auto paint on top, it wont stick for long...if at all. It ALL has to come off and/or spray a sealer coat of epoxy primer (waterproof primer) over it, then make with the shiny stuff. If you want to add some accents, a lot of engine and brake enamels come in cool colors or effects...if you rough the paint up with like 600, that stuff will stick (make sure its enamel)
Nice job!

I am going to be doing the same paint job, kinda. I'm gonna go matte black, but with a no or low gloss clear, just to seal and protect it.

Re: well shes painted
I know alot of people dont like to spend alot of money on thier paint jobs.
Honestly though you can get a decent spray gun for around $70.If you get good at it you can paint stuff for other people and the gun will have paid for itself.
I know I have mentioned this before but Summit has a paint line that is getting some good reviews. If you still dont have enough money for paint(a gallon goes for $71.95)
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
THe activator is $17.95
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=SUM-UP100
and the reducer is $8.95
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...part=SUM-UP401
I have a expensive waterbourne Devilbiss gun for work.
I got this IR gun for $100 from tractor supply and it sprays just as nice!
http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/...g=true&cFlag=1
They also have this set of 2 guns that has a 1.7mm and a 1.4mm for
$60.00!!!!
http://www.tractorsupply.com/webapp/...g=true&cFlag=1
I know its not as cheap as a rattlecan but I just want people to know that you dont have to spend some ridiculous amount of money for a paint job.Hell if you got a friend that wants to paint thier car too you could split the cost!
