1987 Z28 Black Sapphire Metallic

Hi all. I've been a member for a long time but just recently got back into spending time on the Third Gen after life getting in the way for many years. This is my '87 Z28 with the 305 TPI. I've had it since 1990. It's pretty much all original except for a paint job, exhaust, rear diff, and a few suspension components. It's loaded up with almost every option that was available for the Z28 that year (minus the IROC package of course). I recently replaced the carpet and had the headliner, sail panels and visors re-done. My next step is to pull the door panels and "put the lines" back in the upholstery. Sure, it's 80's slow but still fun to drive!

Looks very dark in the shade. The blue metallic really comes out in the sunlight.

It looks great, not that different from the Dark Adriatic Blue Metallic on my ATS Coupe. Just kind of an odd name calling it black sapphire when it's clearly blue.

It is strange. I’ve seen GM refer to it as Dark Blue as well.

Looks great. A friend of mine had one that color back when almost new. Always liked that color.

my car is the same color, looks black at certain angles and beautiful sapphire when the sun hits it. in 1986 the color name was dark blue metallic. in later years the same color is now called black sapphire.
