Is that crappy Chinese stuff what Hawks sells? I saw on their site they sell GM licensed repros.

Yep- the GM licensed repro set specifically:

Not only cheaper but better (so far anyway):

Well I think you could get into the same comparison:

A quick search seems to tell me guys are pretty happy with the GM-licensed repro GTA set (from hawks or other vendors). I think the GM repro iroc emblems simply by way of design vs the smaller GTA emblems have way more plastic surface area to cloud after getting lots of sun. And I should mention again my car is i) a summer daily and ii) bakes in the driveway much of the summer lol - so I suspect some garaged/Sunday drivers with the GM repro iroc set on have no problem.

That’s good to hear, mine is a summer car that is also garaged a lot so I might be ok.

Got an alignment of course after doing the steering but I noticed a bad shudder/bind at full lock left or right (ie spinning into a tight parking spot) that was nicely mitigated by the street specs here which I handed to an alignment place. TGO saves the day once more.

Poking thought the gear that came off for a classifieds ad...here’s the OE distributor (wont be making the ad lol) - amazing these things can work perfectly fine for 30 years with this amount of corrosion on the reluctor.

I know this is what mine is going to look like when I pull it apart this winter.

Mystery
Solved
My fancy skip white aluminium, polished, aluminum impeller 30%-more-flow blah blah lasted not even two short seasons. Of course, I “saved” by buying an uninstalled one second-hand so before I kick dirt I do wonder how many shelves it might have fallen off of.
In goes a boring old NAPA Tru-Flow.
The above was only addressed since the VATS finally stranded the old girl in my driveway. I’d of course noticed the oil or coolant but couldn’t see wherefrom and was happy to just top it off for the time being.
In retrospect, with all my itemized lists of stuff to have done “preemptive VATS bypass?” was one thing I *shouldn’t* have crossed out as stupid a few years ago lol.

That’s a bummer about the water pump, I finally changed mine out with an AC Delco this spring after finding a small puddle of coolant where it sat every time it came out of hibernation the past 2 years.
The vats delete is also a solid idea, I did the same trying to be preventative this year after I got a new chip with it deleted.

100% 88. Clearly shoulda done so myself as mentioned. (And I won’t forget should I ever own any other late model thirdgen)
Wondered the same thing myself Dave. Shame to toss such a pretty piece of hardware like that on the scrap heap. I’ll inquire with the shop- it’s the big, go-to GM/vette tuning joint in my city so I know she’s in good hands.
