New Thirdgen Owner Again! '87 V6
Hi folks, this is my first post here, but I'm new to neither Camaros nor forums. I haven't owned a thirdgen in nearly 17 years. The last one I had was an actually pretty darn nice mild custom '85 Z28 ASC convertible, which I traded off for a '68 coupe with a 4-speed. Before that, I had a red on red '85 Z28 Automatic, and way back around 1993 to '94 I had an '83 Z28 with a very strong 355 and a 5-speed. I traded that one for a '69 RS coupe ex-drag racer, which I eventually (and stupidly) traded for my first brand new car right off the showroom floor: a 1994 25th Anniversary Trans Am with an automatic and a hard top - one of 258 built. (I of course eventually got out of the T/A, as it was killing me financially, and got the 2 later thirdgen Camaros after that.)
So anyway, that's all a roundabout way of leading up to this. I was doing my usual Craigslist surfing about a week ago when I happened upon an ad that said simply, "1987 chevy camero doesn't run 500 obo." No pictures, no other description, nothing. On a lark, I hit the reply button, and it actually had the seller's phone number listed in the pulldown. I sent a text politely asking for more info. A little while passed by, and then I received a reply text asking me what I wanted to know, and the conversation progressed with him sending me a few pictures of the car. I then made arrangements to go see the car on Tuesday at lunch time. He kept his end of the arrangement and met me at the designated time, and after looking at the car, I pretty much decided immediately that I was not leaving without a deal. We made the deal and shook hands, and then I had to wait until today (Saturday 12/13/14) to go load it up and get it home. So today, it came home with me to begin its resurrection to roadworthiness. Here's what I dragged home:

Re: New Thirdgen Owner Again!
So, not only is this my first Non-Hi Performance model of F-body, but it's also the first one I've had that did not come with a V8. But it's freakishly clean for having sat up for 11 years, and it shows 03781 on the odometer, which undoubtedly is 103K miles, which is really pretty low for a 28-year-old car. The seller told me that it was driven by both him and his sister when they were younger, and that they just parked it when they got new cars. So, by all accounts, it should run and drive after the basic fluid changes and battery replacement (and tires, of course.)
I'm debating with myself if I should pull the tank before I even hook up the new battery the first time, or if I should siphon out whatever is in there as best I can and just put in a couple gallons of fresh gas to try to start it.
Any other suggestions or tips? Thanks guys!

Glad to see another sports coupe being saved, its even a pretty nice color combo as well. Good luck with the build. Besides being roadworthy, whats your plans for the car?

Well, the front bumper is messed up on the right side, so I'll have to get that replaced. My plan for right now is to get it roadworthy and drive it some, and then maybe pass it along to my 17-yr-old stepson to drive, if he shows any interest in it. If he shows no interest, then I will probably do a V8 swap and just have it as a weekend driver.
I have never in the past been partial to Sport Coupes, but it is growing on me. It's the cleanest, lightest Camaro you could get back then!
I was looking in the center console today and found a receipt from Midas for about $550 worth of front end and brake work done back in 2000, about a year and a half before it was parked. New idler arm, tie rod ends, master cylinder, and brake shoes/pads.
