88 Camaro, my second!
So last night I picked up an 88 Sport Coupe, hard top, manual transmission. Guy says it only has 88k miles, and he has all the original maintenance receipts back until 88, so I'm half inclined to believe him... but only half
It's a 305, TBI (Ugh... but I can't afford to do a TPI swap anytime soon though), and 5 speed (Finally!). Seems to run really well... time will tell. Trailering it to the title place so I can get it tagged, then taking it up to my garage to do a once over on it. Probably take apart the brakes and do an oil change, make sure everything checks out on it.
This one actually looks half decent so I'm really happy. My other camaro has some body damage and even worse paint than this one so next to that, this ought to look beautiful.
A buddy of mine works at a body shop so in the next few months if I have money I'm going to take it to him, get the two dents it has repaired and get it repainted.
More pics Saturday once I get it tagged.

Not a bad looking car man, an LO3 5-speed is not that bad really. I would rather have your drivetrain than my 3.1 auto LOL!

Don't get me wrong, I am in no way unhappy getting the L03... but I would much rather a LB9 like my other car had, or even a L98 :-D.
I'm kicking myself for leaving my old engine in my buddies garage, he took it to the scrapyard a year ago, along with an entire TPI intake setup.

Re: 88 Camaro, my second!
So I took it to the garage, checked it out, and everything seemed alright. Had to push the guide pin back into the drivers door since it was sagging, and so minor repairs on the drivers door handle, but otherwise everything seemed to be in working order. Took it out for a drive, had it overheat and had to pull over.
I forgot that checking the overflow does NOT constitute checking the coolant level. Ran it clean out of coolant, managed to pull over before it got to the red though. Let it cool down, had a buddy come by with a gallon of water to pour into it, and it ran just fine the rest of the day. Runs a little cold, around 130, so I'm guessing either the thermostat is missing or stuck open.
So it needs a thermostat, and a power steering pump (which is leaking/whining). Oil was fresh already, and no indication of coolant in it, nor white smoke puffing out of the exhaust... so I can only assume the guy never checked the coolant and there is a very slow leak somewhere.
Already started playing around with the ALDL interface, and of course I can't get it to work. May have to live without telemetry data until I get around to replacing the ECU with an aftermarket one :/
Going outside in about an hour to take more detailed pics if the weather clears up some.

So you took it to a shop and they did not check the coolant? Makes me wonder what they really checked out for you?

Re: 88 Camaro, my second!
So I've replaced the power steering pump, water pump, ignition module, spark plugs/wires, cap and rotor, intake (broke a thermostat bolt off in it), and top and bottom coolant hoses.
Just found out yesterday that my radiator is leaking, so I'll be replacing that now :/. This car has a LOT of issues, I'm thinking it wasn't driven very much before I bought it.
It also needs a new clutch, the current one is chattering, and I think the pilot bearing has gone... but it's still drivable for now.
Anyway in the meantime I got around to installing an EBL that I purchased off a member here, and it works great! Car started right up, VE table was really close to being spot on out of the box. As an added bonus, the EBL datastream is MUCH faster and better than the stock ALDL stream, so I've been working on automatic collection of datalogs and a kind of display, see the images attached.
