Re: Post pics of your tu-tone camaros!

You've probably did this already but have you tried adjusting the bracket in the middle of the bumper, you know where the bumper meets the latch?

I wonder how one of these would look if you only painted the roof and A and B pillars black...

I tried that, even made the slots longer so it would move a little more.

I like it, I'm thinking of some kind of silver on top of a metallic orange.

I'm going to put a half inch silver stripe where the two colors meet. I'm using silver Z28 enblems on the side G/F and the rear bumper. Just gotta sand it and clear coat it.

Re: Post pics of your tu-tone camaros!

To each his own, but I find it extremely hideous when you put the transition line at the shoulder of the car (along top of fender/bottom of windows). Less is definitely more with these cars in general, very few stripes look good on them, chrome doesnt look good. Different colored GFX only looks good with 82-90 gfx and only if you use the proper pinstriping on the 85-90 cars.

BUT... the only reason Im responding is because I think this is a very interesting take on the two-tone Camaro, and I was surprised at how "factory" it looked, and yet it looks nice and clean. If I ever two-toned my car I'd do it something like this:

I couldn't disagree with you more. This body style lends itself perfect for a two tone paint at the top of the fender. Most cars out there look like an egg with no defined place to do a two tone paint.

Very few 3rd gens look good with two-tone paint jobs. Although I do kind of like the rendering by Vortex. One of the first things I did on my '86 was tear off the multi-color stripes that were above the ground effects. Now my car is all blue with bright silver (repainted) ground effects.

The problem is the sail panel and the bumper cover. The paint coming down the bumper cover front looks kind of hokey. Has that "I just draped a rug over the front of the car" look to me. The sail panel doesnt have a clearly defined line at all on the camaros. The firebirds have a distinct body line there and it works much better, more like the 4th gen Camaros with their black roofs. But the 3rd gen Camaros dont have a defined seam, so it just looks kind of weird painted through that area to me. Especially since the bottom of the window doesnt line up with the bottom of the hatch glass. To each his own, a lot of people like that look, but it's those two particular things that bother me. And if nothing else, remember I drove around with a black hood for a year that didnt match anything else on the car, so Im no serious authority on style.

And GMan, Im not talking about Knocker. Knocker is a B4C car and you based yours on the Cali Highway Patrol paint. Thats way cool if you ask me.

That's no rendering! It's actually the infamous Dean's v6 road racer car. He's the guy that keeps writing up awesome suspension mod threads and then getting himself banned by flying off the handle. Does it over and over...

Just because it's a cool ride:

Re: Post pics of your tu-tone camaros!

I've seen the two-toned cars before & actually was currently thinking of doing that to mine (black top, colored bottom. Thanks for the pics & making up my mind for me. I'm NOT gonna do it.

Don't get me wrong, it looks nice & all just way too typical. Too "copy cat" of doing my two-tone like every other 3rd gen. So I'll go with my other Photoshopped idea, unless I come up with another one.

Re: Post pics of your tu-tone camaros!

Hey PM, now that is nice. What are the three dots on the rear fender about 6 inches in front of the spoiler? And is that a silver colored break line between the orange and the white?
